most people hate them because there so 2 years ago we've come so far in modding that it seem's pointless to the community to waste 5 to 10 min's making one. although i do enjoy them they have to have 2 things, 1 skin's as in vehicles ect with neons and that stuff, 2 grav boosts other little things that make you go faster and or cause more mayhem.
Realy? because i havent seen any race tracks that are as great as you say. and i havent seen any good normal mods lately any ways. every thing is AI and i cant do that. so right now im kinda stuck. thers no mods that i like. can you send me a link to those fantastic race tracks you were talking about?

Yes you can. Install a modded dash for your default dash, then rip H2 to your HDD.

It's not that we don't like 'racetrack mods', as they have the potential to be very good. But we did go through a time on this site when everyone was posting racetracks everyday..with the majority being crap, and then 1 or 2 racetrack mappacks came out,...so we just frown upon'em now
Still, they have the potential.

if some one wanted to take all we have in modding now and put it in a racetrac kit would probrbly be pretty good but most appear to coppy themselves over and over

The first time I saw a race track I thought "heres a novelty with a short shelf life" I don't HATE them they're just a bit s**t
My opinions on race tracks
1 Not really made for RACING (not wide enough)
2 Warthogs aren't really fast enough
3 No check points
4 Just because you can mod it doesn't make it good
5 No killing involved
the best thing I could think to do with race tracks is incorporate jumps into maps to make Warthog wars more interesting but in the end they're a bit pointless

That's quite an analogy, Detox.-DeToX- wrote:Its like some foods, awesome, until you have too much and you get sick of it, and don't ever want to see it again.

I was actually thinking of trying to make a good old fashioned racetrack (I say try because I've never done it before), and then maybe add some cool junk in there like the grav boosts in killerzach's. I will contribute to the revival of this dead concept and bring back harmony to the world.
Well, maybe not that last thing.

It's because so many people released a bunch of cruddy 10-minute tracks about every day, and the good ones just seemed to disappear in the crowd.
Anyone looking for a fun track should check out Ace Space Race - even has some oddly catchy music in it.
I once made a race track map on containment - don't think I ever bothered to release it. Fully system-link compatable to non-modders and used proper slc 'troop' permutation warthogs (I've never seen anyone else use one before - it's the only way to get a turretless hog to look turretless to others on spawn) on top of the base in the background with spawn points, and if you fall off the edge I put a teleporter to get back to the top of the base (marked with a rocket ammo, because others can't see moved scenery). Pretty fun, but I never could get the containment ramps flat, so the race path in many places goes / / / with lots of jumps, and I think I've only ever played against one person who was as good as me over the jumps (After seeing so many of my friends fail at it, I can guarantee this mod would make any non-pro hog driver look retarded).
