I was wondering how I would go about switching a models peice with a peice from another model. Like switching masterchief's head with a skull like turk did: http://forums.halomods.com/viewtopic.php?t=48521

That was a custom model. If you want to make a custom model for a head, just do a search for modeling.

it wasnt a custom model he attached the skull via the hmlt and nulled the head

Genetic, if you want to know how it's done, download the mod, and compare the hlmt and mode tags of the mastercheif from Turks mod and to a clean map.

Ok, I compared the mod with a clean map, and I could see that he added some models in the "mode" tag and had some new things in the "hlmt" tag. But I still couldn't figure out how turk got the skull to attach to masterchief's neck.
Edit: Nevermind, I figured out what turk did. He added Attachments to the helmet under Variations in the HLMT tag to attach the skull and the fire.

if it was a custom model, then how could he have injected it back without the bones in the model? i think he nulled out the head shader and added a skull scenery from the warthog hlmt thing, and added fire the same way
