would there be any way to make it so it could go light to dark like over time ?? like have it start out sunny coag but then start to dim and then go dark??
I doubt, sky maybe, but not the ltmp.
You could spawn a model over the map with a script, and keep spawning them, then delete them over time, and make the shader like a partially transparent black.

incorrect, a script can be written to change the light map over time, it has been done as any follower halo photography thread would know
