grades vs intelligence
If you trueley care about it, then it's up to you to put in the extra effort to go up and ask them about it. If they fail to cooperate then perhaps send in a complaint about it, or just study the subject in your own time.{TP}Spartan wrote:my teachers dont explain **** they just give u work and tell u to do it.
it's like they get paid to do nothing

Odd that although I have fairly severe ADD, I have IQ test scores well above average. I don't see how people can make that argument.RaVNzCRoFT wrote:The most concrete way to measure intelligence, in my mind, is an I.Q. test. I sometimes get shit grades but I am the only one in my school who can, but not limited to not being part of:
Manipulate all sorts of computer/video game related files.
Build Computers
Be athletic in many fields of sports.
Pay attention in class.
Fix cars.
Be involved in arts such as graphics, instruments, and machinima.
Yet I still am ridiculed. I do not object in someone calling or referring to me as a Jackass, though I am one. A girl I am friends with told me to ride my bike down her street and into the tree in front of her house, and I did. I am not uneducated, I am stupid. I am in all honors and I am in the honors society.

Just simple food for thought, Wouldn't a smart person, Even people with Wayy above average IQs be able to read a teacher and manage to get good grades in that class by playing on those key parts? Perhaps a truly Smart person would be able to blend not only the knowledge, but the logic behind the grading system, correct? How can you be smart if you cannot play off the person that is giving out the grades?

just to put this out there, in the beginning of the school year I over heard this one that sits behind me saying that she would try to do some s3xua! things for the teacher to get her grade up. (Won't say exactly what it was)
I can create a whole story in my head but I just can't explain it on paper. A lot of people think I get good grades when I talk to them but in reality I get mostly C's. And in English forget it.
This is what collages mainly look for, a well rounded person, meaning that the per is good or OK at everything but doesn't excel at one thing, or a person who excels at a sport. (it seems like its mainly football) As for the people who excel at math, science and tech (automotive, computers, architecture, etc.) people, all they get is a pushed to the side when it comes to getting into a collage.

And A Poor Diet.
The list goes on and on. Most of them are irrelevant in showing to how Smart/Talented a person is.

Not removing this 'till I get back. Leaving on [01/05/09]

im a unique student in that I get 97%+ on every test without studying, but I don't do my homework, so it usually balances out to around 80% in the class.
my philosophy: if I get get 97%+ consistently without doing homework, why is it necessary for me?
I don't blame my low(by low I mean not genius, 100+ i think, been a few years) IQ tests on ADD. Although I'm pretty sure I have ADD.Armed Civilian wrote:And T.vRaVNzCRoFT wrote:The most concrete way to measure intelligence, in my mind, is an I.Q. test. To the people saying booksmarts means you are not street smart, you are wrong, they have no correlation, you can have both at the same time. Grades don't really reflect intelligence at all. I have come to realize that grades really mean nothing, it's the knowledge that you get out of the class that matters. Testing tests more intelligent peoples knowledge, the ones that learn the concepts, but most people memorize for tests and don't really learn material, it's in one ear and out the other.
That's not that unique, sounds like a lot of people in this thread talk about being somewhat like that, I know lots of people like that.Patrickh wrote:i agreeTural wrote:I find test scores to be a more accurate representation of intelligence than a course grade.
