How do i Enable HTML in my posts?

I was making a tut and for the first time i wanna add pics, so i did the html, i took 2 classes for it. But then the post just showed my code, not the images. All the HTML tags were shown too, i looked at the Options to the left of the text box for posting and it said HTML is OFF. What the heck?

So i went to my profile and changed it to allow HTML, then i came back to the post and the options still said HTML is OFF, #@^$&#!. I went back to my profile and it said it allowed HTML like a changed it, then i went back to the post, it still said HTML is OFF!. How do i change this irritating option?!?!?!!?!?

You can't. HTML isn't allowed on forums as it can lead to exploits.
