I also want to get a console before the halo 3 craze, and I've already reserved the legendary edition halo 3, first on the list at my gamestop
http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep ... LXeQQc.phpWhen I was at E3 I had a chance to get a look at the new Halo-edition 360 hardware, and I asked about the HDMI connection. "HDMI will probably be standard moving forward," I was told. I pushed for more information, but was rebuffed. Now, after the price drop announcement, a mole sent us some interesting information about Microsoft's upcoming hardware plans. If you're thinking of buying, you may want to hold off.
According to my source, Microsoft wants to cut through all their existing inventory of hardware. They will then quietly "soft launch" a new version of the Core and Premium hardware in late August or September that will include an HDMI port. It's also expected that this new hardware will feature the 65nm process for the CPU and quieter DVD drives. The new hardware will ship in boxes very similar to what we saw on store shelves now, but there will be a small "call out" on the box so you know you're getting a system with the HDMI connection.

HDMI, with my new tv might be a worthwhile upgrade also...the dvd noise really doesn't bug me, I play loud action games.
Its hardly a price drop though, but it might look better to buy now for some people.
On a side note, Halo 2 doesn't make a huge noise in the 360, it plays quitley like all xbox 1 games and a few 360 games

Hmmm...man this makes my decision harder! I am thinking about buying an Elite just to have the second one. My first one hasn't done anything wrong from launch...It's just...I want to mod my 360 SO bad. But that's a lot of money and I need that for gas, all these upcoming games, and other essentials...Like lunch.

Listen to Protest the Hero.

Yeah, I've been thinking about getting a fourth. >_>Tural wrote:I've been considering getting a second console, if these new upgrades do occur this Fall, I'll probably pick up an Elite around Christmas or sometime early next year.
But really, some of the updates sound nice, especially since my console's been working since launch...I fear my luck will run out one day and I will have to face the dreaded ring of death.
