I am 99% sure there is no device that will allow execution of games on the hard drive. The only thing that is available is a firmware modification, which means you'd have to burn a disc every single time you wanted to test anything.
TDATA test MB? Can't we make custom stuff for TDATA slots now?... just do that
I won't "continue" my modding with halo3, but I will still be sticking around doing halo2 stuff. I've also picked up non-halo related work so its only a matter of time before the I stop doing anything public or even privately with friends, related to halo.
Mike talked big dreams about the 360 and making "trainers" (god how I hate that word) and trainer tools for it, but I don't see that ever reaching the heights we got the xbox to for yelo. *sigh*
And I still want to do stuff with stubbs, but just never really had the time ...
Everyone is gunna lose the girlfriend when halo 3 comes out(I lost mine early ) But we wont lose modding and dont think we will ^_^. But the forums will be slow a little after the release, mb cus we will all be playing it XD.

I don't really have an intention of getting a 360, or Halo 3, or modding it...Most of the people I associated with have moved on to bigger and better things...
I doubt Halo 3 modding will be nearly as exciting or popular as it's predecessors...Halo 1 was by far the most amazing...Everything was a significant find when working on it...Halo 2 on the other hand, was much less exciting...
See, way back when, in the long long ago, during the before time, none of us knew what on earth we were doing...Discovering an offset was amazing...
Then Halo 2 came along...And in the first week, it was possible to extract sounds, textures, and models...And you could inject them too if you wanted to take the time to do it...Thats all it took, a week...Maybe alittle more, maybe alittle less, it was along time ago...Now, I'm not a modder, I like a challenge...An interesting challenge at that...Halo 2 just never really did it for me...Sure new discoveries happened afterwards, BSP editing and so on...But really it was all based on what we learned from Halo 1, Halo PC, and that first week of Halo 2...
I foresee Halo 3 falling into the relative same category...The map files probably won't be much different, it'll take a relatively short time of experienced members time to map out how most of it works, toss together an app that modifies it, and so on...However, the community has grown way too large in my opinion...It's actually full of modders now...That's not a bad thing, they aren't bad people...But when the balance changes between the people who understand how and why, vs. the people who just want to make really cool mods, it's hard for the first half to stand out, and recognize each other to work everything out...Everyone just gets frustrated at no one helping, and everyone wanting help, and the development stops...
Really I think this happened with Halo 2...If you look at who the major development players are, you
...Thats right...I invented modding...So give me Wii Points...

agreed. i am one of those modders who use what as i refer to as what the Great Ones have made such as major apps that do everything for me basically the founders of this forum with as Iron_Forge said a handful of others made what we use today and this is hard on them to make great stuff when there are less and less of them us as i like to say NewbyModders in a sense can only hope to work hard and maybe just maybe find something that helps everyone i have never really worked on anything very important i did mess with permutations alot but only found a little about what the elite biped could be made to look like without modeling it and that was all i greatly appreciate what the Great Ones have done to help me along with almost every one else on this forum with being able to do very creative and innovating mods.
but on the sense of halo3 i really don't care for anyone modding it i played the beta the maps looked great with many more promising ones to arise so in my opinion i don't really care if any one mods it because i think it'll be great the way it is. but if we can make halo3 maps available for halo 2 id love that the most
As soon as halo3 comes out, we would've figured out how to do custom sbsp's and be able to convert any halo map to halo2. So I'll still be modding (hell, I'm working on my first public release now) on all three games.
Ah fudge, I can't get my pic to work. I need to llearn more BBCode. Eithier that or figure out a way to enable HTML. HTML is disabled on this board. It's simple to add a picture. Just put [img]UrlGoesHere[/img].

I'm guessing when Halo 3 gets new maps, then it will be easier to mod.
Wrong because they will most likely come inside a container just like any other Xbox 360 DLC and there wont be any public ways to re package the modified content

Yes we can make custom content... for Halo 2... now Halo 3 on the other hand will use a container

actually its just me and pokecancer with h3core but on the model research it was brian and I. Also SOL did a great deal of work with the hex editor and scripting
I whole heartedly agree with I_F. There were so many talented people working on Halo1... Not because they made sweet mods but because of what they found out and applied it.
Even though it's ashame it's the truth about Halo2. So many people want to make cool sweet mods and that's fine and all but it's the people who made this possible that should be shining more than the ones that applied it. It's unbelievably easy to do any of mods anymore with the utilities handed to us. Guess how many of the modders nowadays would be around if none of these tools were available... Only a select few.
Halo3 modding will have a bit of backing but I see it being relatively small compared to Halo1 and Halo2. Notice how all the Halo1 guys kind of either left the scene or don't show as much interest in the slightest? IMO, Halo3 won't have nearly the same backing as Halo1 or Halo2.
I said this somewhere else, but I would rather there be no ability/easy ability to mod halo3 at all then to have it but with a bunch of morons cheating on Live.
