If I recall seeing this correctly, now brutes have jetpacks and methane masks as well? I didn't think Brutes needed Methane but it's only speculation. That and it looks quite different from the smaller masks that Grunts wear.

Halo 3 trailer deconstruction post.
I'm going to go over every significant thing and point stuff out...I was thinking to do a separate topic on this, because I'll be trying to go in depth, so yes, that DOES mean possible spoilers...but if you're interested read on. These are ONLY my assumptions, I in no way think I know everything about Halo 3, I'm just taking stuff I read about in the books, and saw in previous games, and am applying them to the trailer.
Ok, scratch that, but WMP decided to let me take screenshots, then not in the middle, so I'll just go by time codes.
0:00-0:05- Covenant Prophet speaking
0:05-0:12- Covenant Phantom flying over a forest area, similar in style to the landscape of Earth and the Halos.
0:13-0:20- Brute Chieftain kicking Sergeant Johnson.
0:21-0:25- Covenant ships glassing surface of something.
0:26-0:32- Destroyed and flaming human structures.
0:33-0:36- Master Chief standing in a burning human structure.
0:36-0:37- Covenant Phantom unloading troops.
0:38- Brutes attacking human construction workers, with Master Chief in the background.
0:39- Brute attacking human marine.
0:40-0:41- Master Chief and marines getting on ATVs.
0:42-0:43- Master Chief and Arbiter both wielding chainguns, shooting at unseen foe. Human marines in background.
0:44-0:45- Master Chief and Arbiter standing in the same spot as the E3 2006 trailer, overlooking crater, with Longswords flying in, presumably to attack Covenant craft in the crater. Swirling vortex of doom still in clouds.
0:46-0:47- Brute attacking Master Chief, first person perspective of using the Shotgun.
0:48-0:49- Sniper rifle used in first person perspective. Zoom levels are 5x and 10x. The visible scope on the first person model is a sensor style; enemies stand out as green silhouettes on it.
0:50- Battle rifle used in first person. Carries 36 rounds still.
0:50- Warthog flying in the air, shooting at unseen enemy. Wraith visible, and in the background, power lines are seen, along with the Prophet of Truth's forerunner ship that we last saw at the end of Halo 2. Also, a disc-like object is in the air, up and behind the Warthog. Possibly a Covenant ship at a straight-on angle, possibly something else.
0:51- Using the chaingun in first person. The gun seems to be used like the Sentinel Beam, with a heat meter, and energy limit. Interesting tip: The "secondary weapon" on the UI, shown below the current weapon stats is the Brute Shot, but the weapon on the Chief's back is a Battle Rifle. And another interesting thing: Different weapons now apparently have different viewpoints, obviously. Large weapons, like the chaingun, and later on, the rocket pod, have a third person viewpoint.
0:52- First person view of using a plasma grenade on a Brute. The shotgun seems to be able to have 6 shells loaded at a time.
0:53-0:55- Boarding a Wraith, in a human area.
0:55- Master Chief using the chaingun.
0:56-0:57- Two hunters come through a door, start firing their beams, like in Halo 2, then a rocket blows them up.
0:58-1:00- Drones seen carrying Marines, from first person and exterior view.
1:01-1:02- Master Chief gets on an ATV driven by a Marine, and destroys a Ghost with a rocket launcher.
1:03- Miranda Keyes, in a Forerunner styled structure, draws a Shotgun and a Magnum on Brutes. In my personal opinion, if you pause right here and look at the leg of the Brute in the foreground, it looks like a Brute that's been taken over by the Flood.
1:04-1:06- A Longsword crashes down, in flames. In the background, an air battle is taking place, between Banshees and an unknown craft in the bottom-left corner of the screen at around 1:04.
1:07- Cortana is seemingly going Rampant, while the Master Chief, the Arbiter, and 343 Guilty Spark watch. The room that this takes place in is built and designed like familiar Covenant structures.
1:08-1:09- 3 ships in the same class as the In Amber Clad are flying into the E3 2006 crater, firing MACs.
1:09- The Arbiter and Master Chief are standing on the edge of that same crater, and the Arbiter looks like he's screaming.
1:10-1:11- A Brute Chieftain runs at the camera, in a place that looks human.
1:12- The Master Chief runs at the camera, in a place that looks like Halo/Earth.
1:13- First person view on meleeing a Brute. A Jackal shield is visible in the background, with a new design.
1:14- Master Chief boarding a Brute Chopper with a Fuel Rod Gun slung on his back. The Brute has a shield.
1:15- First person view of firing a rocket at a Brute. Near the end of this cut, a Prophet hologram is visible on the left side of the video.
1:16- A Brute sets up a shield generator in a Earth/Halo environment.
1:16- Master Chief firing a Halo 1 appearance pistol at an unseen enemy. Behind him are two marines and the Arbiter, in a human area.
1:17- Four plasma-like explosions occur, while wielding the same Halo 1-style pistol.
1:18- First person view of meleeing a Brute. The Brute Shot carries 6 rounds at a time.
1:19-1:20- A Warthog flies in between a Brute Chopper and two Wraiths.
1:21- The Warthog gets destroyed by the Covenant, with Master Chief running away from it.
1:21-1:24- The Master Chief and Johnson are seen in the cockpit area of a Pelican, flying above clouds. Important thing to note: This Pelican has a different piloting configuration. One person sits behind the other, instead of side by side as seen in Halo 2.
1:24-1:25- The Pelican turns downward and begins to fall. In the distance, a large structure and the curve of a Halo ring is seen.
1:26-1:29- Many Pelicans are seen under attack from Seraph fighters, and either falling down in flames, or flying purposefully toward a Covenant ship. On the ground below, lines resembling cities are seen. At some point in 1:27, the best view of a new large structure is seen. It curves upward, with four prongs coming out of the end. Possibly the Ark?
1:30-1:31- View of holding the Rocket Pod. Same third person perspective as the Chaingun. Can hold 8 rockets at a time.
1:32- Covenant attacking a landing Pelican.
1:33- Master Chief firing a Chaingun from the back of a Pelican.
1:34- A Banshee firing at an unseen enemy.
1:34- View of using the Chaingun, firing at a Banshee. The secondary weapon in the UI says Battle Rifle, but on his back, there is a Brute Shot. This is probably just a bug in the game that'll be fixed. In the background, a ship in the same class as In Amber Clad is taking off.
1:34-1:35- Banshees seen attacking a Pelican, and firing Fuel Rods at it.
1:35-1:36- Master Chief driving a Brute Chopper.
1:37- Three new looking Marine variants firing at Phantoms.
1:38- Master Chief driving a troop carrier Warthog.
1:39-1:41- The Master Chief pushes a Marine out of his way, walks up to the Arbiter, pressing a pistol under his chin.
1:42- Scarab firing at an unseen target, in a human-like area. At the beginning of this sequence, you can see an unknown human-like craft in the air above the Scarab, between two Banshees.
1:43- First person view of firing a rocket at the Scarab.
1:44- The Arbiter is seen holding a Covenant Chaingun-like weapon, firing at a Brute and a Grunt.
1:45- The Master Chief fires at something, then jumps off of the Scarab.
1:46-1:48- The Scarab explodes.
1:49-1:50- Black.
1:51-1:53- Night time, 5 Covenant ships are flying away from the E3 2006 crater, and a Pelican flies toward the camera. Energy rings are seen above the crater area.
1:54-1:55- Black.
1:56-2:00- We see Master Chief looking over a panel like the one that we saw Cortana on earlier.
2:00-end- Fin.
I know some of the points have been covered, but I want to get everything into one post, and from my point of view. Some other interesting tidbits: When the 4 plasma things explode, in that region of your screen, little honeycomb structures appear. Maybe more immersion in the sense that the MC's helmet has stuff like intense light protection and such? Also, my little Earth/Halo theory goes like so: Whenever we've seen scenes of Earth, it's been in a yellowed-out way. It might be just that all we've seen is Africa and the desert, but that's the color scheme of Earth sequences...kinda bland. Halo, on the other hand, has more areas of green plants and lush environments in general. I know I'm broadly generalizing here, but I just want to throw the point out there that Bungie COULD use that as a story device.

another specualtion about arbiter and mc in co-op and sp...
I believe that if you choose an Elite profile, you get to play as the Arbiter and if you choose a Spartan profile, you get to plays as the Masterchief. That sounds like the best way to play sp and co-op to me, oh and if they both choose spartans or elite then its just first player gets mc, second player gets arbiter. That sounds like it would be cool.
