My dad just told me that it'll probably be about no more than 5 years till the need for computers could be eliminated. I was asking him if it was in any way possible to make a notebook with every custom part you wanted, and he said no, but probably by the time you get to college there'll be some big database somewhere in the world, and your computer will be some little handheld thing with a 7-inch screen that has great wireless capabilities, and all your files and stuff will be stored in the database, and maybe for a certain price per month you can access your files from the database with a 50 GB/second internet connection from your phone service provider (like verizon, in my case).
That would be awesome. That made me wait. For 5 years. W00t! I am so ready to wait!
Oh yeah and if you didn't like the 7-inch screen, you can plug your device into, like, your TV and run it like that.
But that's just our imaginations running wild, but he says it's entirely possible. He says verizon even just quietly upgraded their service to an internet speed of like 10 Mb/second. So he says it's very likely something as unimaginable as the handheld wireless "dumb" device could be no more than half a decade away. THAT makes me happy!!

We're catching up to Halo times, but even quicker. How 1337 is that?

Verizon and other carriers' FiOS has always been fast...my friend has at least a 15 Mb/sec download and 80 Mb/sec upload (Because nobody never uses it and he can jack the traffic. Or so he tells me).0m3g4Muff1n987 wrote:But that's just our imaginations running wild, but he says it's entirely possible. If people don't use their internet, it doesn't matter. You can't "take" their bandwidth that isn't being used. The only way to get more than what you pay for is by uncapping your router, which will get you arrested within a day.
There's a massive different between a bit and a byte...

I've been having some bad personal problems lately. Just facing some pain from scars of the past... But I'm getting over it pretty nicely now, and I have an amazing person who cares about me and will listen to me (Never had that, I'm used to being treated like second hand trash. The person who cares about his friends, but his friends don't give a flying fuck about him.... So, I told them fuck you, and I don't have too many friends anymore... but I'm fine with it. Cause I've got a few really good people :] I don't need to take crap from some assholes who think they are some kind of god, but are really fucked up... I know this doesn't make sense cause you're not in my shoes... just feels nice to type it out). But I'm starting to feel happier, and my life is improving a bit. I still get random hits of depression, and I'm sure I always will. But they don't last a quarter as long as they used to... Longest short term depression I felt was like, a day and a half. But the one I love so much listened to me the whole time... I know you guys don't like it when I talk about her, but I gotta give her some credit on that, cause damn did it help out a lot.
Long story short, I've never felt this happy in my life, and I've never felt so lucky to have the people I do in it
