A app Idea

Post by fodelement »

I was thinking what if some one mad a app of some kind that would Un-mod a map? I think this would save alot of time with FTPing, and it seems that it would make life a little bit more easy. Just a thought.

You'd have to generate a patch between the specific modded map and unmodded map, so you'd still need to have the original. This has been suggested before, and it's just not very helpful at all, it would waste more time than just FTPing a clean map.

If you had any sense you would have backups on your computer.

Just keep a backup of all your clean maps on a DVD or something, that's what I do. :?

Listen.

Say you have two mods, Mod1 and Mod2, for a map, Map1.
You want to restore your clean Map1 which has Mod1 applied to it.
You have to generate a patch for [Map1 with Mod1] using the modded map and clean Map1.
This patch would only work on [Map1 with Mod1], it would not work on [Map1 with Mod2], you would have to make a separate patch for that, the same way you made the first.
Literally, the only way to do it would be to have the entire clean map anyways, so you'd be solving absolutely nothing. You could restore the clean map, but you'd have to already have the clean map to do it, so it would be completely pointless.
