Making Sounds From Halo "Playable"
I was wondering if there is a way to make the sounds you export from halo (such as the pistol firing noise) into playable .wav files. I can get the .ogg files to work because I have an ogg converter, but when I export and ADPCM .wav files, I can never get them to play, because I get an error. Is there a way I can change this?

Um
I do have HMT 2. You can find it from site to site. Anyway, I did extract the sound using HMT 2, it just won't play. Try it, there is a program in HMT 2 that you use to convert regular wave files into ones that can be used in halo. Unfortunanly, once you convert them, you can't listen to the converted one because your computer wont play it for some reason. Not the right type i guess. Anyway, when you extract a sound, it is still in that unplayable format. I just want to know how I can get it to play!

What do you mean by this. Simply renaming it to an mp3 doesnt work, and my converter wont convert it into an mp3.Deadly_Shadow wrote:...extract sounds, rename to mp3 or w/e..

yeah it should work in windoze media player and in winamp. there are also alot of others that should work,HunterXI wrote:yea, I know that too, also the bit about a codec. what I was saying is that it should play under 90% of applications that play sound.
there funny thing is, the ADPCM codec first came from the Xbox, halo Xbox uses it too.HunterXI wrote: he isn't modding xbox.

Ok heres the link
http://www.gueux.net/modules/mydownload ... 99d549e2c5
1 Download and extract xb_adpcm_codec. Open up the folder
2 Right click "XBADPCMinst.inf", then click install.
3 When installation is complete:
-Go to your Device Manager
-Double click "Audio Codecs"
-Go to the Properties tab
-Double click "Xbox ADPCM Audio CODEC"
-Be sure "Use this audio codec" is enabled
-Change codec priority to 1
-Click "OK"
this should install the codec and then u should be able to hear sound when u play those .wav.
