Replacing plasma grenade with bubble shield???
This has realy been pissing me off because i had it a couple nights ago working fine, however now im trying it and my xbox freezez at the end of the countdown. I thought u copy the bloc tags meta and insert it into the grenades proj tag, is this wrong or is my xbox just being uber gay? thankyou for your time.
I don't quite understand what you said... Anyway this is what you do.
Step 1. Open up Dothalo
Step 2. Go to the [proj] tag and select the plasma_grenade.
Step 3. Now look at the dependency viewer, swap the HLMT to the soccer balls HLMT
Step 4. Now swap the [foot] tag to [bloc] and select the soccerball.
Optional: Step 5. (I am not sure if this was already done but...) In Entity, go to the [proj] tag and select frag_grenade, go to the meta editor and switch its hlmt from frag_grenade_projectile, to the soccerballs HLMT. (like I said this may have already been done in Dothalo, and most likely was.
And why your xbox is freezing could be a whole 'nother story. In my little tut right there the only time it could freeze is when you throw the grenade.

You asked how to turn the grenade into the shield. I have been working on this mod the whole entire day it seems like. It is pretty basic to make it not explode... Just increase the life span of the plasma grenade. Now to make the shield prevent damage is another story and is what I have been trying to do all day. For starters you need to give it health/shields, which of course I have done. When I test it the shield is deflecting damage but only in a concentrated spot in the very middle of the shield. I posted a topic hoping someone will tell me how to get the collision bigger but so far no one has replied.
And if the grenade is in the middle of the shield like you said, then I have no clue why.. I am using the frag_grenade.

Btw there is a bug in Dothalo if you try editing its lifespan in that. When you go to the grenades meta editor and it says "lifespan-10", that is really the air damage if it explodes in the air not its lifespan. Atleast this is how it works with the frag_grenade.

Open your map in Entity
Go to [matg] globals/globals
Right-click, display idents
You will see Projectile [1], right-click, swap
Find your shield, press 'Swap Ident'
Sign, FTP, voila.

You can always just transfer the soccer ball to a map. Edit the soccer ball to your liking and swap the grenade projectile meta offset with the soccer ball. I don't see the need to swap the grenade's hlmt... This way, once you throw the "shield", it will fall straight to the floor instead of being thrown like an actual grenade. Or you could make MC's already pussy throw about as strong as a child's, so the grenade goes about 2 feet in front of you.
Anyways, use the basics. Fresh maps, clean meta. Start from scratch. Clear your xbox's cache partitions. Make it like you never modded on your xbox and see what happens this time around. (trying my method, of course)

What do you mean by swap the meta offset, cause im pretty sure i did something of that sort when i had it working a couple days ago, i just cant remember what it was i did >_> and it worked exactly as u say, it appeeread right on top of me. if you could please explain how to do this id appreciate it, thnak you
