How to make the sword 2 different colors?

How would I go about making one half of the Energy Sword differently colored than the other half?

the engery sword's [mode] (model) is composed of three [shad]s (shaders) Top, handle and bottom...If on were to change the top shader to something else, the bottom half of the sword would remain the same and vice versa. this applies to both first person (fp) and third person models
