Anyways, yes it does appear that there are more polygons there then needed. Perhaps if you posted a wireframe it would be easier to help you out and show you how to improve. Because I'm sure you could get the same look with way less.
I'm pretty sure it's the jpeg image compression. That's what all the compression artifacts are.

If he saved it as either:
a) PNG with 218 trillion colors
b) JPEG at highest quality level, the images would be much better.

Though PNG does have excessive file sizes, it is still a very good image type.

Edit:
My bad. PNG's actually have 218 Trillion colors.

yea he is, but it wasn't as funny as you attempting to spell someones name that's already been spelled out on the page.

pngs are much to large and take too long to load.

for one warlord, you have WAY to many sides and segments in those spheres, and you're putting detail into unnecessary places. world models need to have a very low tris count because there are always going to be so many of them in one place at one time. go back and take out all the detail that can be shown with a skin.

il sort out the spheres soon the bits around the "neck" im making new versions off with lower poly but they cant really be done by skins as the daleks need their shields to show those bits.

that should be like a defenceless machine that spawns a certain amount of deleks and there all over a map and the objective is to destroy all the daleks and the dalek spawners :D
