Help with my computer!

Post by ExileDestruction »

Ok, I ran a virus scan and now I know which file is causing the problem. However, I can't delete that file (acutally a folder.) It tells me that "We are sorry, but we have to close explorer.exe to protect your computer.)
-I would show a video, but it ends all of my programs when this happens.

Alt Control Delete.

End anything you can.

Then try.

Even Explorer.exe, Make sure you have a my documents open though.
And when you finish, go to Task mananger, and hit new task, and type Explorer.exe.

Yea, I knew that much. But that doesn't help the fact that I still cant delete the files. Because when I right-click and hit "Delete"- it just takes me to the screen saying that it has to shut down explorer.exe

Let the virus scanner remove the file, don't do it manually. If it can't, get a better program.

i've used a program called killbox to remove stubborn files like that, but from the error box, it sounds like the file may be trying to exploit a possible hole in explorer.exe (explaining the memory address that couldn't be written to). google search killbox and try using it to kill the file, otherwise try booting into safe mode (push F8 after rebooting), selecting the file, and using shift+delete.

explorer.exe is the taskbar at the bottom of the screen. So terminate it and if your bar at the bottom of the screen goes away hit crt, alt, delete then go to the processes tab then hit New-> Task and type in explorer.exe and your taskbar come back!
