A request of sorts.

Post by ScottyGEE »

Whilst I believe this requet won't get me more than a post by GTAF saying "no, locked", I would like this to be considered regardless by more than one person of staff (ie, more than the person who may or may not lock this thread).

What I am requesting is to have moderator like privallages in the Halo 2 Skins section. By "moderator like" I mean the ability to create stickies or announcements and possibly moving skins to outstanding (more later). The reasoning behind this is mainly for my skinning competition. To allow for easy management of threads without the need for constantly pm'ing staff (and being ignored...Also more on that later) for them to sticky or unsticky threads.

The competition has been growing in poopularity since its beginnings with double the entries from the 1st one to the 2nd competition, a 4 page discussion thread of my next skinning competition and even the almighty emblem administrator giving me the power to give out the skinning competition emblem are some indicators of that.

The fact that I have been considered for staff previously (but never got the chance because the arbiter system was dropped before staff could contact me [they tried on AIM :?] :P) is a small indication that I will not somehow abuse these powers. Also, with my extended knowledge of Halo 2 skinning it would be good to allow me to move skins to the outstanding section of Halo 2 as only I and maybe one or two others would understand what makes a skin good and what is outstanding...But that request is only optional.

The reason I ask of this is due to the inefficiency of staff in that section in previous times. My requests to sticky the skinning topic threads were previously ignored until Snave accidently stumbled upon the competition and stickied it. If one were to venture into the skins section now, one would see that the previous, old, over skinning competition is still sticked disregarding the fact that it has been a while since anyone has posted there and the fact that the competition is over.

So for a nice little summary for those who don't even want to read all of what I've written (and I'll assume that those people are the one's that won't even consider this in the first place). I would like to have moderator privalleges in the Halo 2 skins section for the ability to easily manage my skinning competitions without the need to haslte staff and then be ignored as a result. If you ever see me in anyway, abusing these small amounts of power, then remove them and even ban me if what I did wrong was that bad.

Hope you actually read this and consider...

Note: If you were thinking that moderator like powers included fancey writing and a little title saying staff...No, I don't want that at all, I don't want to look like I do anything important...I just want the comp management like tjc2k4 had.

When I first became a moderator back in 2004, it was for only one section. Scripting and Programming. No moderators ever visited that section, and my requests to do something were usually ignored. After talking with Grenadiac, he made me a mod of the single section. And thats how I got to where I am today...

Case in point, I'm perfectly fine with you being a moderator in Halo 2 Skins section. To be perfectly honest, I don't even browse that section. I've seen nothing but good things from you ScottyGEE and if I had it my way, I would probably just make you a moderator of the entire site. Unfortunately it's not up to me (although an Aussie mod would help keep the filth down that springs up when the rest of the moderators are sleeping).

I support ScottyGEE and his quest to become a staff member.

I've raised that point oh-so many times, only to have it rejected or completely disregarded.

I also feel that most of the staff just seem to hang around the cafe and forums lower down on the page.

I'm all for Scotty being able to manage the skins section, he's the only person that should if one was required.

Regardless of what he said in his first post, I support ScottyGEE and his quest to become a staff member/sectional mod. We'd have to wait for approval from Kirk (and/or Grenadiac...don't know if he still needs to have things like this run through him).

Also, you spilled the secret of being the emblem man, bad boy. =o

lol; yes bad Scotty; I thought those happened by magic! I would love to have ScottyGEE as a Halo 2 Skins Moderator; even if he is 12 hours ahead of me or so...

Oh and I only decided to post because I am *techinally a skinner.

What, because you copied my avatar thing, or because you genuinely produce good skins? ;p

And the vast majority of us have guessed who gives out the emblem, it wasa given really.

We have one officially staffed, don't know if he gets on anymore.

Now that I check, looks like Maca isn't on the board no more.

I got no issues with scotty being one of us. Let him be.

The secret of the emblem man? As seen from the last competition the skinning contest emblem (the ribbon one not the one I have) wasn't even used and apart from me saying I'll be giving out a secret prize and then getting that certain emblem, I thought it spoke for itself ;)
Plus, apart from just that competition emblem, I'm yet to see others activley given out anymore :P
But if I shouldn't have said that ahh well :P

It was kinda a joke, yeah, I'm sure everyone figured it out...but meh. =|

Yeah of course I know that :P

I have no problem with you being a moderator in the skins section to control your contest. You'd also make a fine global staff member, although I'm not sure we need them at the moment.

We oughta make a sig/avatar saying "ScottyGEE for Moderator". Oh yeah, plus I support your quest for knighthood* as well.

*moderatorship
Your sig can't exceed 500x120 and 75kb in file size.

I didn't say it was. I just said Scotty was being mature. It wasn't a comparison of maturity.

In all seriousness, a tacky signature would probably hurt his case more than help it.

Oh, ok. In that case, disregard my earlier suggestion(not that anyone would have listened to it in the first place :D )

No comment. >_>

I'm just saying it's better to post a valid case than to have people use signatures to advertise you.
