H2V Question
Hey, does anyone know whether or not Halo 2 Vista will have superbouncing? Or how about BXR, double shot, quick reload or any of the other glitches that The Xbox version had? If the superbounces still do work (doubt it) What'll happen with custom maps?

i would imagine that superbounces would still work. if you look at the new xbl maps, superbounces are still there, because of how the maps are built. basically it works like this...
all maps have an underlying grid line so to speak. a super bounce happens because when you crouch into a spot, the game thinks your body (your spartan/elite model) becomes part of the map. then when you jump onto one of the intersecting grid lines, the map tries to keep you from falling through the map. that's why sometimes when you land one of 3 things will happen...
the screen shakes because the map successfully stopped you from falling through, but you didn't hit an intersecting point dead on.
you fall through the map and get "killed by the guardians".
or the map successfully forces you from falling through, but it forces you upward too hard, hence the superbounce.
so i would imagine that seeing as how the maps are most likely the same as their xbox versions, and were just ported to work with a version of halo built for vista, superbouncing should still work.
i would assume it would be too much work to go through and re-code and rebuild an entire map to get rid of superbounces. and seeing as how the brand new xbl maps have superbounces too, they most likely will be there.
as for the weapon glitches, that's a different story, as i would guess that it would be easier to program a fix for those.
if those are still there, they would probably be harder to pull off with a mouse and keyboard.

Explain superbounces without crouching?
I don't think it has anything to do with crouching under something at all, or at least entirely.
I always thought it was because of bad triangles. Tool in Halo 1 wouldn't accept bad traingles, so that's why there weren't any in Halo 1. But tool for Halo 1 accepts them... or at least it's alot more forgiving than the Halo 1 Tool.

It's quite common.lordkramdar wrote:i've never ever heard or seen anyone superbounce without crouching.
Also, just because you think it works some way, does not mean that is 100% correct. Nobody can prove they are completely right.
In actuality, the question has been answered to the best of anyone's abilities. Nobody can confirm anything until the game comes out, so you can't get a definitive answer. We can only assume the engine will be the same, and thus would allow such phenomenon as superjumps. The same goes for BXR, etc, we can only assume it will be the same, but it can't be confirmed either way.
