Guns
Guns
Since the VA Tech thread has been overrun with discussion about whether guns should be illegal or not, i thought i would make a new topic instead of being off topic in the other one. Also, Mods feel free to close this if you think this is a waste of a thread.
If you've seen Lord of War, you'll know that outlawing guns does not fix the problem because people can smuggle them in. Laws only keep honest people honest. If im planning on going on a rampage and killing a bunch of people, im not going to care about one or two more laws. I just want to get everybody's opinions about gun control.

Consider all those who carry their own concealed weapon.
Cops, hunters, storeclerks, etc.
Now tell them that because a small minority of those have a bad day, and are usually drunk/high/being affected by some kind of influence, go out and kill people, that we're taking away their right to defend themselves.
It's true, one fourth of Americans are retarded. And probably one fourth of those who carry their own guns will do something stupid.
It kinda reminds me of school; just because some Mexican is an idiot and lights a bathroom on fire, doesn't mean everyone at that school should be arrested and questioned about why we were in the bathroom.
This incident at Virginia Tech was very tragic. 33 families have been forever changed.
But you can't possibly justify pointing the blame finger at the avilability of guns for this occurrence.
A psycho used an instrument of defense for attack. You can't predict these happenings.
If any course of action is to be taken with concerns to the availability of weapons, we should step up the requirements to own weapons.
These incidents will still occur though. There's no way to stop them all.

You're suggesting that someone will find a way to circumvent the Bill of Rights, and have it work in their favor?
Sorry, but it's not called the Bill of Ideas. It's the Bill of Rights for a reason.
It's been solid since its conception, and I highly doubt it's going to change from some college shooting.

That is the most factually unfounded thing I have ever heard in my entire life. Even if the law were to be passed, there'd be a Supreme Court case within a few years (Slow Judicial system, hate to say it) that would declare it unconstitutional. There are checks and balances for a reason. I suggest you think out your concepts a little further and educate yourself on how the government works before trying to present your misguided views as factual.rentafence wrote:Sure they can. The government will find some way to make the second ammendment sound different than how the founding fathers intended it. They want to ban guns all together so noone can stand against them.Tural wrote:Guns can not be made flat-out illegal.
Take away the guns and you will reduce the number of gun attacks, but you will also take away a defense used by alot of people in america..
Keep the guns and the defense stays.. but the number of gun attacks does also..
Your not allowed them in England thank god, unless of course your part of the CIA or a high ranked cop.. people that can be trusted. Personally i feel safer knowing that not everyone has a gun on them.

That doesn't necessarily mean a reduce in violent crimes at all. And like I said, making guns illegal now won't fix anything. A lot of people have them, and it would not be hard at all to get one. You'd figure there are thousands of stores that sell guns, and millions of people who have them. You could get one in 15 minutes in just about any place in the country.Prey wrote:Take away the guns and you will reduce the number of gun attacks
Well yes it does, what best way to take out that certain someone? What best way to go on a killing spree in the next 5mins? What best way to kill my wife as we just had an argument i lost out on? 5 dollar gun from the shop round the corner maybe?Tural wrote:That doesn't necessarily mean a reduce in violent crimes at all. Of course america is huge, population is huge, gun carrying population is just as huge - It wouldnt be practical to outlaw guns now, in fact it would probably just create more violence

Ok Tural, so say there were no guns anywhere in america, how the fuck would they get at one? First off they'd have to know someone/be that someone. 2nd, police are going to know about illegal shit being shipped in and so some kind of check would be set up, especially if the rise of gun crime was so high. So perhaps they could make the gun? No of course they fucking couldnt. Unless of course we get the scenario of some metalwork guru gone bad..Tural wrote:So you think if someone wants to kill someone, but can't get a gun, they're just going to shrug it off and forget about it? *** no. They will find a **** way to do it. To say that that would solve anything is near idiotic.
You would have to be seriously connected to get at a gun in such a case. Gun crime would go down. That person may not give up however, perhaps he will use a knife instead.. but what you would you rather be against? An automatic weapon capable of shredding you to pieces in seconds, or a kitchen knife?
Thank you i meant the BIA, also thank you for feeling the need to insult me because of my 1 letter mistake.iGeo wrote:Also, Prey... are you retarded... we don't have the CIA here.

I think I realized why people in the UK are pushing for us Americans to ban guns more than we are: they're still bitter that our right to bear arms over 200 years ago lost them the "new world." It was 200 years ago, folks, get over it
.
I personally feel SAFER knowing I have the right (and exercise that right) to bear arms. If somebody breaks into my home, I'm not going to try to fight them off man to man, I'm going to make sure they don't get close at all.
On top of that, it's just plain fun to hunt, target practice, and shoot clay pigeons. Don't knock it 'till you try it.
