I don't see what ti accomplishes and I'm sure the negatives outweigh whatever thsoe accomplishments are.

You're right.
That's actually exactly how Bungie approaches these updates.

They all sit down:
"Alright guys, how can we fuck over our community that has played our game for the past 3 years, but slip in something positive to serve as a poster child for it?"

"I've got it! We'll reset all their ranks, fuck their mothers, and purge game recording for a few days after the update just for the hell of it. But make sure to just tell them it's a required update for uh... some behind the scenes shit."

If you care that much for your Halo 2 rank, the only real thing to do is to go out and get a hobby... or a girlfriend or something.

I'd suggest locking this, it's only going to cause problems.

I could care less, I havent even played H2 on XBL yet, lost my disc somewhere a couple of days before I got my 360.

And now all the cheaters get their ranks down. =).

Either way I play Halo 2 for fun, not for ranks, I dont sit there for days infront of my TV yelling "LEVEL 30...ALMOST ... THERE, JUST 3 more days". So wouldn't matter to me either way.

It's just rather frustrating having tolerated countless cheaters, derankers, modders, bridgers, etc. on Matchmaking and having to wait hours just to find a game. HOURS. Only to have it all reset. Now I'm going to have to put up with that crap again.

Is there any new updates on cheating? Or is it still the smae system where they get banned within 6 hours or what not? Thats when I quit playing

Sounds like they're finally putting an end to allowing modded maps to be played, instead of just knowing they're modding and then ban them later, hopefully this patch is going to put a stop to it completely by not loading the maps. This patch better stop the 360 modders too..

What with this stat's reset and the recent upgrade to the stat's server's, we may see Halo 2 leaderboard's back

When I read that they were reseting ranks, I was so relieved. I'm not a de-leveler, but I don't think I deserve the 24 I have in Team Slayer or the 15 in Snipers. I suck, but I can't get better because I can't fend off real 25's and 26's and I'd rather not kill beginners all day because that isn't fun.

I'm for it.

Meh, I just wish they'd make unranked versions of their gametypes...I would rather enjoy playing Team Snipers with my friends instead of people who accuse me of cheating when all my team members commited suicide, quit, and I sat in a corner for the rest of the match.

I'm going to wait a month before i play Slayer again, and at that point it should be easy to get my 40 back. I'll go for my moon if I can get a match.

During that month, To8 BTB with kids who were all 36+ in it.

They are reseting the ranks cuz there are big gaps in the ranks. It makes it so that when you want to play a game your not waiting for 19mins to play Team Slayer.

When I click 'Get Update' a guide thing pops up saying the game doesn't support 50hz over VGA... I think it's the little green original Xbox dash thing that isn't supported in the mode I'm using. Oh well, looks like no update for me unless I find my component cable.
