skinning snow help

just started skinning today and this is what i have...

i want the grass to look like snow. but it doesn't work for some reason.

i got the right bitmap and everything.

and when i change the color, the green just gets lighter or darker.

help please

hmm im not totally sure but i think you may need to change the alpha...if not, then try copying a picture of snow from google images or something, and pasting it over your .bmp or whatever file extension when your directly editing it, like in paint or something

There should be a ground image, and i'm pretty sure you have to change the color on it.

yes the ground effects the main colors, the other is texture, and there may even be a bumpmap you might want to change...
