Cortana jmad help
Well, I've been reading these forums and mooching off of downloads here for a good year now, so I finally decided to join. The reason being is that I need help, plus, this is a great forum. I'm just lazy.
Well, like stated before, I can easily swap tags to make an elite or spartan look like Cortana, but I can't actually get her legs to move! She just moves across the floor, hand folded! So, it was pretty funny at first, but I want her to be an actual charcter with full character physics. At first, I tried giving her the phsics of an elite, thinking her legs would walk like theirs. I was wrong, and she still glided. Next, I decided to SKIN an elite using her shaders. Man, that elite was one sick, twisted little freak. So, now, I'm resorting to actually changing her animations.
There is a problem though. When I changed them all to what the multiplayer charcters are, she still freakin glided! AH! Now, I know what a scripted character is, like a scarab. I don't think Cortana is scripted, but correct me if I'm wrong. When I was looking at different shaders, every charcter in the game has leg shaders ecpect Cortana. Instead, she just has one solid body shader, with arms, head, ect. Bottom line, she aint got no legs! At least by the game's standard that is. So, any input would be greatly accepted and appreciated. I've checked through the forums, and the tut section, but couldn't find a thing on this. I'm sorry if I'm bringing back an old subject, just don't wail on me if I am, because, I truly don't know if I am. Thanks alot. If worse comes to worse, I'll just swapp Miranda Keyes in and use Cortana's shaders...
Kudos.

That's a good question... I'm pretty sure that the movement is scripted. If you think about it, every biped is scripted in cutscenes. But Cortana doesn't need any other movement, since ALL movement is scripted and independent of human interaction.
By the way... how do you apply Cortana's shaders to a biped?
(Noob question, I know)

Hahaha, thanks for actually responding to my question. Now about yours. First off, you need the Cortana Hmtl. I got my from Ciaro station. Next, use insolence to copy it onto the multiplayer map you want, in this ase for me, midship. As long as she is in the maps data, you can access her shaders. Now, simply go to the mode tag, click dependencies on the model you want to use her shaders on, and there you go. A list of shaders will show up. Swap each one with one of Cortanas. JUST DON'T USE HER FACE SHADER! That is unless you want one freaky looking spartan or elite running around. If that's the case then go right ahead! I use H2X V2 (Or something like that) by the way.

You could use a guide from a MC or elite jmad and then build your own jmad mapped to Cortana's model bones. Unless she has none, in which you'll have to add your own.
This wasn't really possible until H2G. If you put enough work into it, you can make it work. But it will be a lot of work.

Yes, extremely new. H2Core decompiles the maps into H2G tags. I suppose from there you could take an already used tag JMAG, copy it, and then use Insolence or Entity to see what kind of values you need to link to Cortana, then hex. After all is done, recompile the tags with H2Core.Magical_Beans wrote:Oh... Halo Guerilla (Sp)? Yeah, I've never really used it, but will give it a shot. I have plenty of time and patience. Then, if I get it working, I'll post it. Thanks a lot. I'm sorta still using dothalo and stuff like that, so i never check for new programs... H2G is new, right?
Again, nobody has done this before. It is a rough guide.

I've already given cortana the jmad of an elite and let me just say that it doesnt look right in the end. She looks real messed up. If i can find my picture of it ill post it.

as you can see, giving here the elite jmad doesnt work out right. She gets stretched and such.

Chief's jmad is even worse.

That's more the angle I was talking about. Use a current JMAG for a map of the relexives and create an entirely new JMAG for Cortana.DarkMetal wrote:You could try editing the coordinates of the jmad, or make a quick app to sorta scale them down a little.... that might help.
Suprisingly, the elite almost has the bones mapped out right. The MC model has a completely different bone layout.
The first thing would be to discover what each bone in Cortana is.
Then design animation graphs based off of it.
Those pictures are pretty funny.

HOLY CRAP! That is freaken hilarious! Well, thanks for saving me my precious time! Man, that's great... but, back on topic. Thanks for all of the suggestion. I'll try it all, and if I figure out a good way to do it, I'll make a tut. Though I may have just joined today, I am not new to modding. I still am not that great at hex though.. oh well. I'll give it a shot.

Try it. You might find you are really good at hexing or something. Hex used to confuse me so badly, then I read Iron_Forge's whitepaper, followed along in the hex and now I'm the first (And probably only one) to fix Morrowind .Map files for the Xbox.Magical_Beans wrote:HOLY CRAP!
