Okay, eternal, I stand corrected. If you take out the video files and the single player maps, you could fit them on the HDD, as long as you don't have too many fancy applications.
The point is, all that I tried to do was HELP, and here you are being a complete a**hole to me for trying to suggest a solution.
You're not increasing the flow of ideas here, tough guy, all you're doing is making this into a flame war. If I wanted to flame you back and forth, I'd start a topic called "Flame War with eternal". Since I didn't do that, why don't you stop being a jerk to the guys who are actually trying to help, huh? I have yet to see you suggest a way to solve the size problem.
VSG19902, how close are you to being done? It has been seen before, but I'm sure the map can be taken into consideration for the pack (In other words, if the other guy that made that map doesn't get mad, I'm sure TH2MODS will be more than willing to let your map in!).

Well thats the thing, I was the first to actually put the bsp in with help from slayer410, and if your talking about greenhouse by zach, that was only scenery not a bsp. If you are talking about smacktalker, his is only outside not inside. And it is very close, I hope to release it soon after I finish CTF and Assault.

In my opinion, I think everyone who did a conversion should be allowed to submit a map. Then, the person that is trying to put the pack together should get a team together and TEST EVERY MAP that is submitted, and choose the best one. I don't think there should be a limit to who does what maps, or DIBS.
And for the size issue. After looking at it some more, it doesn't look like it will be a problem for the stock HDD. I had thought the other files were at least 1 GB and they are not. So even if each map were 100MB, 30-40 of them would fit on a stock HDD as long as there is not many other savegames, apps, or other files on the HDD. Downloading the patches is going to be a B***h though. I suggest torrents maybe? That way people can seed them constantly instead of the chance of killing a server with all transfers going on.

Actually, Mct0asT, that's not a bad idea. Torrents would work... doing them in this manor would be completely legal... and I also like you're approach to the submissions/dibs thing. Anyone who wants to send a beta can do so. I think that (and I may be wrong) he mentioned that any two people can do the same BSP, but only one will go in.
And, now that I think about it, you could fit 30-40 on a stock HDD, easily.
Theoretically, you could put 80, if they were exactly 100mb. And some Xboxes have 10gig drives, too.
If we use torrents, I'll keep uTorrent open and let people DL the patch from me. It wouldn't hurt my bandwidth any, and I'm sure everyone'd be happy about it!

we should allow like a certian BSPs to be skinned. Because the flood zone BSP 2 out side is just like the first flood zone BSP and they should look differant. Also SnakeJ is doing a good job making it look differant. I think that only good experianced skinners should be allowed to skin the BSPs, but only keep 2-5 slots open in the map pack for the best skinned levels
So who's the authority on the experienced skinners? That's kind of one sided...MilyardoX2 wrote:we should allow like a certian BSPs to be skinned. Well, some of us plan to put time in it. I'm a hater of the pre-concept/projectile-swap/uniform-tile-skined/unsystem-link maps myself. I miss the days in Halo 1 were people had spent time, and I plan to do so.StalkingGrunt911 wrote:I agree with Rotten it's just too early. People are just going to fight over BSP's and they will do a conversion release it in this map pack and it will most likely have bugs that will screw up gameplay because they didn't put any time in it. Why not call this off and do it another time? By then people will understand how to do this a lot better and easier.
The map pack has encourged so many people to begin BSP conversions, one of them being me. As XBC-Requim says, the flow of ideas is amazing.
Anyways, TH2MODSoULMBoCOM, I'm here to update. The Alleyway map is now a sucessful size and has all player spawns moved into it, although I keep getting black screened at the beginning, except for the first time when I just floated in the sky. I've developed methods of easily fixing the scenery with a little hex. Everything should fall into place as soon as the black screen goes away and I'll have a few screenshots.
And to whoever had the 110 mb patch to the 103 mb...
1. How is your map working being over 80mb?
2. There are ways to deflate the map size. Look for unnessacary cinematic and sound tags.

That's strange. It didn't for me. It just tried to load forever. I had to rebuild with a few unnessecary things taken out.foxfanatic23I7 wrote:H2core and h2g automatically make th maps work if they are over 80 mb.
BTW, anyone have any idea on the black screening. The BSP has worked fine in Entity and I spawned once in game with the sky working.
Edit: I went into Entity and I know how it fixes the size limit. It just adds flags for a SP map. And my black screen is gone.
