It's the internet, it's a stupid program, big deal.
The only reason I only use Firefox out of the two is for the spell checker. Other than that, they are pretty much the same.
Let the silly people have their arguments and their pride...Of course it doesn't matter, but people are always interested in other people's points of view and how they can insult their view :P

but to add to this topic I use Firefox because of the favourites bar up the top...Its the only reason really, does IE have it? But yeah it doesn't really matter... Just like the Mac vs PC arguments that I've brought up on a few occasions for some fun.

Firefox.

While neither have actually been good for me in terms of 100% pop up blocking, firefox is customizable and less annoying for me.

The main issue I have with firefox is memory leaking. Every now and then it'll be sitting on Google and suddenly it's using 100,000 KB of my RAM.

in terms of pros and cons:

Firefox Pros:
Extensions (Gestures and Greasemonkey <3)
Themes w00
I don't get any Active X crap

FF Cons:
Memory leaks
Bookmark erasing (It looks like that's been fixed)
Somewhat slow startup

IE Pros:
Fast
Integrated into Windows
Probably something else

IE Cons:
Ugly
Security problems all the time DO YOU WANT TO INSTALL THIS ACTIVEX THING?
Turning on the computer to find you homepage set to something else and 5 new bookmarks you never made. Is it just me or should a browser not be able to do that on its own?
Then again I haven't used IE in a very loooooong time.

It was actually found that poorly programmed plugins were the cause of that.

I use both, I like IE7, it feels more secure then firefox, but firefox has adblock plus <3 I still like IE7 more because I love microsoft, but I use firefox waaaay more because of its awesome plugins. though if someone ever makes a adblock for IE thats as effective as firefox's, I'd probably go back to IE only status. also, firefox isn't as fast as IE7, so I use IE to download large files, or going to websites that have a lot of stuff to download, (like websites with lots of thumbnails, google image search, car sites especially.)

EDIT: Opera's best feature is the wand thing that remembers passwords AND usernames, I wish IE and firefox both had that. And safari isn't a real browser so it doesn't belong in this thread.

This thread is biased against Opera!

But really, Opera's ad blocking thing > all.

Well personally I don't care about pop up blockers or ad blockers or anything since I purposefully turn them off, but in terms of simplicity, I like Safari. But, to be on topic with the two main browsers, I'd go with FireFox.

I only used Opera once. I looked at the ad blocking, then my ADD kicked in.

Opera FTW. It has the highest functionality of all the current browsers. People should really try get used to it.

Apologies for a slight derail, I don't want anyone else to really comment, but what the fuck is your logic behind that?

Safari is much much better than IE.

If anything, we should be comparing Firefox with Safari. A much better discussion there.
Just most people have not used Safari.

Way I see it, Safari is FireFox without extensions. Otherwise, it's basically more or less the same.. I like simplicity so I don't bother with extentions even on my PC..

Because there's no port for windows, software is only good if there's a windows port

i prefer firefox waaay over ie

firefox pros
+ sooo many plugins, themes, and extensions, it's really just a good knife when you donload it, but once you customize it, it turns into a beatiful, elegant, practical swiss army knife. and like a real swiss army knife, you can take it around with you (firefox portable ftw)
+ tighter security than IE6, and i haven't seen a security comparison between it and IE7
+ FREE. just download it and go. no need to buy an OS to get it bundled with it.

cons
- i said to myself "what don't i like about firefox" and can't think of much. maybe they could make some way for you to mess with the gui without having to download a specific theme, because i don't know of one.
ASPARTAME: in your diet soda and artificial sweeteners. also, it's obviously completely safe. it's not like it will cause tumors or anything. >.>

I don't think anyone would buy an OS for a browser. =x

It's wierd with me. I love to coustimize everything.
If a program has open source I add Developer Express onto it and custimize the whole program to my disire, but I like IE so much more. I've used it since day one.
But recently IE has been blocking me from google and other sites so I might change to FireFox.
(Can't use my spell check anymore =p)

In reality, Anything is better than IE. I currently use 3 browsers on my laptop for diff purposes. Opera for running tor, Firefox for stuff that doesnt work in opera/konqueror, and Konqueror the meanest browser/filemanager with a crazy featureset. seamless intergration into the filesystem and the binary is 2.8 Kilobytes :)

Of all of the browsers, which looks alright, uses the least amount of memory, has tabs and works on Windows?
