Here's the plan:
I'm making a HALO 2 mod for every single level in the game and making it permanent blah blah blah.
Of course, as you probably guessed my battle rifle and smg replace the assault rifle and the pistol, respectively.
Now, here's my question.
Is it possible to have all 4 weapons? I guess my question is really, can I just add in 2 new weapons without replacing other weapons?
I know that I'd probably have to replace SOMETHINGS to get the weapons into the level. Like, maybe ammo packs can be replaced by the old weapons.
Also.. if I did succeed at doing this, would similar weapons share ammunition?
AR and Pistol AND BR and SMG?

I'm not quite sure if you know this, but there is already a Halo 2 mod out. Someone(I forget his name) converted Nitrous Oxide's PC mod over to xbox. It has the Battle Rifle and the SMG in them as well as a nice Covie sniper rifle. Not saying you shouldn't try to make your own, but maybe just wanted to play it. It is a nice mod btw. A few the weapons in the mod however are a tad too powerful and need to be toned down a bit, but other than that, much fun.

Also it might take some time until we are able to add or rebuild anything even if/when the HEK comes out. Remember, the HEK is the PC Halo Editing Kit and there is a major diff between the map structures of the 2 diff versions. To do what you are talking about could be done by editing the model and rebuilding the map(which cant be done yet for xbox). That way you could introduce a whole new wepaon with its own characteristics and also retain the old one.

Secondly, I am an experienced modder, though not with HALO. (WC3) I thought Nitrous' mod personally sucked and wasn't balanced very well, so I thought I'd make my own that is both fun to play and well-balanced.
I guess my question is, is it possible to overwrite something else in a map, like a tree or health pack, with a new weapon? I've things here about injecting the meta recurvisely over a different object to create a weapon that is independent of the original, and I was just curious if that is true and/or how it is done.

you can make new weapons easy with HHT. Just inject the metadata and models for the pistol and assualt rifle over the halo 2 mod(over some useless shit). Then make sure the dependancy are still good and you should be fine. I've done this with the plasma pistol already but the pistol and AR should be easier.
