Hey guys lay him off you guys dont know how long it takes to make AOTCR its not like a simple convershoin its a out door convershoin and I know there are bugs but he might fix it later cause maybe he will be working on another mod the A10 Hanger and it will be simple but AOTCR is very hardSieg Warheit wrote:So? Ok lemme explain a few things...
First off, I started on this map almost exactly 5 weeks ago - not 3 or 4 months..
Second, there are alot of things going on in this map that have never been done before. I had to spend time figuring out each and every one of those. For example, if you pay attention you'll notive there are 8 different types of vehicles in this map.. while Halo has a hard coded limit of 6? Betcha wonder how I got around that without glitches.. That took me a good week of screwing around and experimenting.
Not to mention the many many many hours I had to spend during that time getting hmt finished and perfecting ht model injection process - which had severe bugs that caused me alot of lost time.
The current tools we have - including sparkedit and hmt - have bugs, and these bugs prevent efficient work sometimes. I spent many many hours just hunting down crazy bugs.
It's easy for you guys to say "oh he didnt put enough effort into it" but the fact is you dont know shit about the hell I went through to bring this map out. I challenge any of you to make a better map with the current tools (including hmt3.5) in less time than I did. Once you start trying to do the kinda stuff that aotcr has, run into the confusing technical complications that seem to happen for no reason at all, have to solve them yourself (while figuring out new unknown things about how halo works in the process), I'm sure you'll be turning to others for help. Well guess what - you won't get it form me. I dont have people to turn to. I have to figure this shit out myself.. hmmm.. perhaps that could add some extra time to the development cycle?? Ever consider that?
Those of you who enjoy the map - I'm glad you're having fun with it. Those who think they can do better - I laugh in your face. I'd like to see it... Everything seems easy until you try to do it..
Make no mistake. Making this map was pure hell and I don't intend to do it ever again.
