DirectDraw/Direct3D Not Available

Alright, heres the break down:

My computer is totally FUBAR. wiki:FUBAR

I tried opening Halo one time, and I got the error, "DirectDraw is not working properly, run dxdiag to check the status."

I do this, open up the dxdiag (DirectX Diagnostic) and it says DirectDraw is 'Not Available.' I was like, oh jeez, that can't be good. So I surfed the net for a while trying to fix this with no avail, so then I opened dxdiag back up, and said maybe I need to disable/enable Direct3D? So I disable Direct3D and close dxdaig, then open it back up again. Bad idea. Direct3D is now unavailable. I am in deep shit.

Anyone know how to fix this? Please help, I can't render my 3d models or play computer games w/o

Btw, I have downloaded driver version 8.1, but I don't know how to make it get recognized by the dxdaig. (It still says I'm running version 6.1)

Are your graphics card drivers up to date?

also, u said u got 8.1? like dx 8.1? cus they have dx 9 which is the newest.

I have dx9c and my new driver is 8.26, I think I just figured it out after like 2 weeks, but I'll get back to you, gotta restart my computer

Nope, still FUBAR.

How do I install my new driver? I downloaded the latest version 8.26 from http://www.nvidia.com but I can't seem to make the computer recognize I have that driver instead of the 6.14.1070

Don't you just run the program?

And, try reinstalling Direct X, cause it says you don't have direct draw.

to re-install direct x, you can probably find a download off of microsoft's site for 9.0c

as for the videocard drivers, do the following only if you have integrated video. try uninstalling the current videocard driver you have, then re-installing the new one. there's a chance that, because you un-install the driver, windows might not be able to figure out how to use your video card, so you may need to switch to integrated graphics.

wait, if that is the result of what happened right after you updated your drivers, you may have downloaded the wrong drivers, do a driver rollback (if you have installed them recently) to see if it fixes it.
