Try going to some webmaster forums to ask for advice...users want unique content.
For instance, there's about a thousand Halo websites. What makes yours stand out? Do you have a unique tool or mod that is going to draw people to your site? Can you consistently provide said unique content?
Just think basic things...what would make YOU want to join the website?

That might be true, but there is a large amount of activity (whether it be in the form of account creations or posts) every day. We have slowed down because it's been so long since Halo 2 has come out, but once Halo 2 Vista comes out, there should be a bit more people joining per day, and a whole new category of mods.
Well, yea, GTAF, but what i mean is there certainly are not 47,746 active accounts. Thousands of them were made in order just to download mods and nothing else. Well possibly the occasional "Hi gais im nu to da forums adn liek how od I put skiins in to HMT?!?!1?"
And even more accounts will be made after H2V and H3 are out as you said. Very few of them will be accounts like mine or yours, which here to stay and post actively.
Well I know I just stay at this forum as long as I have is to learn talk to people.. and check things out. It's like, if your friends all our on a website, you are probably goning to join and post with them. But say, you make an account to download something, and all they see is mabye one flame, which is probably jsut a misunderstanding, and they download some proj. swap mod.. They will get the wrong picture of the forum and leave.
Exclusive content, be that regular competitions with prizes, mini games, or just excellent modding tools or maps.
Problem though is people don't necessarily know the site exsists and generally if I see someone's sig on here saying "Join my forum!" I check it out if I'm bored only to find that its extremely similar to halomods...Only halomods has activity and content...
This collaboration is not endorsed by Halomods
Technically its only me animating though
register with google and pick good key words. use your meta tags wisely. i remember when i first got into modding i probably checked out every forum i could, most were found through google and other serch engines. then came content, i registered at every one that had something special, exclusive like scotty said. then i stayed at every one that was fairly active, i still visit a few different ones today but as far as modding goes halomods is where i reside, for better or for worse.
the whole "exclusive to mimesis" plan gained them alot of publicity. it might help. maybe ask a few people to do you a favour. the worst they could say is no.
