So who's gettin' an iPhone?
Really? Bluetooth is just like one thing here, all phones are comptible.
If I turn on my BlueTooth discovery in college, I will get a list of around a hundred people sending songs and stuff, between classes. It's probably like SMS texting, it was huge here for years before you guys even heard of it, and by "you guys" I mean the people I met in LA.

Well you search for other people and you can find them but that doesnt mean you can send stuff to them.iGeo wrote:Really? Bluetooth is just like one thing here, all phones are comptible.

Actually iGeo that's the one thing I'm amazed about with America and mobile phones from what it appears from what I've read and seen, it seems behind in mobile features.
Bluetooth has always been able to find other bluetooth devices. Mobile phone bluetooth has always been able to send things to other mobile phones...If it is unable to its the developers fault in utilising it in their firmware. I've been sending my friends stuff through bluetooth for 3 years I think now
and lets see...There's bluetooth 1.0, bluetooth version 1.1 and bluetooth version 1.2 (Backwards compatable) so I don't know how there's so many different versions.

That's another thing, some US phones are physically branded by the network provider, what the fuck is up with that? "Verizon Chocolate" and stuff.
But yeah Scotty, they do seem quite behind with mobiles. Bluetooth's been huge here for a few years, and 3G is used a lot too.
Before HaloModding, I used to hack phone firmwares on a large forum similar to this. =)

Yeah, I think that's stupid. It should be SIMcard based. But really...cell phones aren't a big thing in America, relative to places like Europe (Australia as well, prbably). When I was in Poland, there are SO MANY more people with cell phones than here in the US. Bluetooth SHOULD be compatible, since it's mostly 2.0 + EDR...but I don't know why it isn't for my friends. sux2bethem.iGeo wrote:That's another thing, some US phones are physically branded by the network provider, what the *** is up with that? That means Apple has loyal fans as well. Just like there are people that will ONLY buy LG or something, doesn't mean they're not less rabid than most Apple lovers. Us Apple people are just vocal about it more.ScottyGEE wrote:Look at phones from LG, Motorola and Nokia (Especially that new N95), they already have a super large and loyal customer base.

I believe that the reinvention was the fact that it's EASY to use, knowing Apple, and powerful. Also, touchscreenz. I mean, multi-finger touch tracking is an impressive leap forward, and I can guess that if it wasn't Apple making this product with this fanfare, you would think that it's cool as well...I'm not saying that's how you are, but I'm guessing, considering that's how all of my friends are. They just love to hate Apple, and when someone copies them, suddenly it's cool and fun.ScottyGEE wrote:And watch out! "Apple reinvents the phone!" OMG! They have text messaging! A calculator! A camera! An Mp3 player! OMG EVEN INTERNETS!

Hmmm well my attitude may be to do with the fact that it doesn't necessarily go to my needs really and its just fussing over somethings that are already on the market...I currently have a phone which does what I want so I'm sure it'll be good for its target market...
But on that note...what is it's target market? Its a smart phone with some features to dow tih business, but it seems to be a smartphone for kids...Not necessarily kids, I mean more of the stylistic people who go out and buy the latest kool accessories...Or is it just for the mass audience?
What do you think? Who's it for?
I do like the wifi though.

I think it's targeting the general person. We (including myself) can't be objective, as we're absolute geeks over this kind of stuff, and things to do with technology come naturally to us! You'd have to put yourself into the mindset of someone who finds smartphones complex and overly buttoned, and wants something different. I think that is it's target group, just like iPod users.ScottyGEE wrote:Hmmm well my attitude may be to do with the fact that it doesn't necessarily go to my needs really and its just fussing over somethings that are already on the market...I currently have a phone which does what I want so I'm sure it'll be good for its target market...

Narker: They actually showed a mockup like that at the conference. It was a 1G iPod with rotary buttons instead of the wheel.

What do you know. . .my iPod is sitting right next to my Mac now
I like it, but I'm not going to get it (costs way too much)
Oh, and my phone just recently got soaked in a storm drain, so I'm worse off then you, Ice Link.

You people and your fancy phones.... I would rather use mine for the purpose it was made for, communication. All these extra accesories that boosts a phones price and apparentally value these days is so damn unnecessary. I am just going to stick with my seperate phone and ipod which do the job well enough without all these extras that I would never use.
