The way i modded halo before i got my xbox modded was re-burning it to a Dvd everytime and running it.. it took too much time though. and you need a Dvd burner and about a 4.5-5.0 Gb Dvd/RW.

Bull! An unmodified Xbox cannot read a burned game. No matter what you do to the DVD, there is no way to get the Xbox to read the game if it is not somehow modified.

You will want to put all but the Campaign maps and a few bink files on your Xbox HD. Yes you have to put it on your HD to mod it. It should look like this:
E:\Games\Halo 2\
> bink (folder)
-->intro_60.bik
-->attract_60.bik
>maps (folder)
-->fonts (folder)
---->~All the crap in the fonts folder~
-->ascension.map
-->beavercreek.map
-->burial_mounds.map
-->coagulation.map
-->colossus.map
-->cyclotron.map
-->foundation.map
-->headlong.map
-->lockout.map
-->mainmenu.map
-->midship.map
-->shared.map
-->single_player_shared.map (optional - Entity needs this file)
-->waterworks.map
-->zanzibar.map
>Media (folder)
-->~All the crap in the Media folder~
>default.xbe

Putting only these files on you Xbox HD will save a little room and it it will all fit. If you try to put all of H2 on you original HD it will not fit. The rest of the files are not needed.

Edit: Modded maps should go into the Halo 2\maps directory. You will need to learn how to add new maps to the mainmenu for this to work. There are a few tuts on this. Here is a list of tuts.

With newer mods you shouldn't even need to do that.

Use a program like Dvd2box or Boxplorer or something. it's all the same thing except you dont have to go digging though the xbox directory.

That might only work with x-box media center though.

And the newer xboxes that are out have about 10 Gb's of space on them halo 2 only takes up 4.5 gb's of space. you can fit the whole game on there. but if your getting your x-box modded i would use a 30-80 GB HD to store games and back ups of stuff. I use 130 Gb HD For my mods.

I used the xbox development to test burned Dvd's with the xbox dashbord emulator with no added plug-ins.

You have to sign the Dvd so the xbox that will read it. or there would be no xbox games because it would cost alot to make Xbox Dvd's that the public couldn't buy so the games would cost alot.

Anyway Thats not the point.

Theres a way to do anything.

Dont post if your an idiot, i'm not going to argue about something when i know i'm right.

scynide, the Media folder is not needed at all. You don't have to copy it over. The bink videos aren't needed either. :wink:

Will the game even run if the bink videos are gone?

I had some horrible error and ended up reinstalling halo one because i removed them, so i just didnt try it for halo2.

i have removed the BINK vids, and halo 2 works fine without them... you may even notice an awesome new loading screen if you do.

You Ftp the files unless you modded your xbox with a CD burner. Witch is hard to do and uncommen to find.

If your useing Xbox media center then all you have to do is send it to the WORKGROUP smb network.

There's to ways you can ftp it.

One is Buy a roter and hook it up to your xbox and network the consol to your computer.

Or the harder way.

take the part of the controller that connects the controller to the xbox and cut it open. i think you use the Red White green and i think thats it there might be a blue one but you ignore the yellow one and then cut one end of a usb cable and attach the Red one to the Red one White one to the white one and green one to the green one and if theres a blue one attach them togeather. after doing that your xbox should show up on your computer as unknown hardware then i think you use the ftp. if i find the real tutorial i'll show it to you.

I found it. Same kinda think just done diffrently. this way you need to buy a whole new controller not just the connecter
