Could. Good things COULD come out of this war. I want my Weapons of Mass Distraction, I want my al-Qaida links, I want my smoking gun. Wasn't this war supposed to be really fast? A few months at most?snakejknight wrote:Good things could come out of this war, i'm not happy to say that not many have, but at least we got rid of Suddam.

Your government didn't take into consideration the sheer size and population of a whole country. In fact I don't think they took into consideration many things, but that's not related to this.
They didn't even find any weapons of mass destruction either... lame. Waste of time and good soldiers. Regardless of the war though, Saddam needed taking down.

What we are doing over there is something called nation building, something we did in Japan after WWII. According to my history teacher most attempts at nation building require at least 10 years of occupation. What I think we are doing over there, aside from fueling Bush's personal agenda, is trying to create a reverse-domino effect, where in the cold war terms it would be a communist nation converting all its neighbors into communism, whereas here its with democracy. Whether or not this is planned I don't know, but I don't think it will work. One underestimates the atrocities another will commit in the name of his god.shadowkhas wrote:Could. My whole point there was that murder is wrong, no matter who or why.iGeo wrote:It's not someone simply killing another person, it's society, not one person. The jury represent society, and their decision is final. Saddam was rightly killed, murder for murder isn't right, but murder for murder x100000? Sounds fair to me.Dan!! wrote:What gives anyone the right to kill another person?

Welll I'll be upfront with my opinion. I am for the death penalty. I believe almost everyone in this thread believes that crimes deserve a punishment, so can you please tell me why you feel its better for someone to spend the rest of their life in jail than to just die? I am not for painful gruesome deaths, I support quick/painless methods. I just think that crime deserves a punishment, and I think its better to just let them die quickly than to force them to spend the rest of their life in prison, and have citizens pay to keep them alive.
I'm all for the death penalty, if you take somebodies life, in this case thousands, you should have to have your life taken away. Seriously, there should be a worse punishment. I say get hanged, bring him back to life, and kill him a different way each time. I also feel arsonists should be burned to death...but that's of topic.CE_AI wrote:I don't think he deserved it
They did.I also don't think they really killed him anyway.
Lol...
But yeah, he defiantly deserved worse.

Can you name any of those people...didn't think so. I dont think he deserved to die at all, before he was removed from power the country wasn't too bad, sure it was a dictatorship and if you didn't follow the laws they would kill you, but there wasn't car bombs going off every 10 seconds, our troops wouldn't get killed over there. If they put him in charge he would straighten out the people and run the Al-Queida out pretty d*mn fast.LoneWolf wrote:He deserved to die. He should've gotten hung off of one of his statues. he killed millions of people, i think that he should've died, although he'll be roting in hell for an enternity...

Have you by chance heard of the Kurds? He ordered them to be gassed, killing thousands (there is very disturbing pictures that I'd rather not link to...Wiki it.)Can you name any of those people...didn't think so.
That sounds pretty bad to me.I dont think he deserved to die at all, before he was removed from power the country wasn't too bad, sure it was a dictatorship and if you didn't follow the laws they would kill you
Contrary to popular belief, it is cheaper to keep someone in jail thier entire lifes than it is to execute them. It costs millions to exectute someone, but only a few thousand a year to keep them in jail.TunesRus90 wrote:I think its better to just let them die quickly than to force them to spend the rest of their life in prison, and have citizens pay to keep them alive.
