Yeah, this seems like a debatable offense. Since you did not crash, failure to yield the right away (which is what the charge would be from my uneducated interpretation) could be debated, and since you were turning, I'm guessing you weren't speeding. In addition, since you have a clean record, I assume that you will probably get off alright, but the whole situation still sucks. However, once you are able to try out the game, please rate it, as I am considering it myself.

Yeah, I've never heard the phrase either. However, it would have been much wiser to just give the officer what he wanted to hear. Although what you said is entirely correct and true and what have you, it's still likely that it left the officer with the impression you were being a smarta**.
