Why do we need sprint in Halo anyway?
We already have ducking/jumping, and none of the maps are like...enormous. We don't need people sprintduckjumpturning to avoid shots now. It's already annoying enough. I just don't see a point in having sprint when we have so many vehicles, and it's not like this is Gears of War where you need to sprint when you're not behind cover.

Halo 3 CG Trailer Debuts
The X button is unraveled.
by Luke Smith, 12/04/2006
Is the above image, which is from tonight's Halo 3 CG commercial (watch
it or download a hi-res 720p version here) either the first big clue or the
big reveal of exactly what Bungie is using the 'X' button for?
In this moment of the trailer, the Master Chief grabs what looks like a
grenade (but may be more of a "charge," as if this is the X button
feature, the Chief will not dispose of it like he would a grenade), flips a
switch on it -- as if to arm it -- and throws it to the ground in front of him.
That object then bubbles up surrounding the Spartan with a protective
shield. That shield protects the Chief from an incoming round from a
rocket and turns off.
Master Chief then dashes forward and holsters the pistol,
pulling the revised assault rifle off of his shoulder where it was
stowed.
It's important to note that Master Chief activates an item (with the press
of the X button?) and perhaps the Shield Grenade is just another new
grenade -- after all, Bungie introduced the Spike Grenade last month. It's
entirely possible that the sprint that Master Chief breaks into after
creating the shield is the actual deployment of the 'X' button -- a sprint or
a dash was one of the scrapped features from Halo 2. But, Bungie told
1UP during its visit that the X button was not a dash. They wouldn't lie to
us, would they?
Additionally, the pistol in the above image could be a Magnum from Halo
2, but it could also be the return of the M6D pistol from Halo: Combat
Evolved.
The above image shows what could be new enemies or re-clad
Jackals in much sturdier armor a series of Brutes. At the
center of
them appears to be an overlord Brute, much like Tartarus from Halo 2,
but this Brute has red hair (and wields a similar hammer).
Looking closely at the enemies, it appears that several of them are
carrying the new Spike Rifle -- so that the possibility exists that these
are new creatures from the Brute fiction. Speculate away.
I think that answers some questions

"You know what I'd like to be? I mean if I had my goddamn choice, I'd just be the catcher in the rye and all."
or should I?

OMG WOW.
I think the two kids were John(Mastercheif and me!), and Linda(another Spartan, who John was (very) close to in the books.
He was shell-shocked in the beginning, and he might have been remembering his past on Reach, during the earlier parts of his training.

You cannot know this...and MC is in shock...he is remembering these things...ironies from his past, they said "wouldn't it be great if we could meet the others who are up there"(not actual quote) as they were staring up at space.Veegie wrote:It isn't any of the Spartan IIs.Ketchup_Bomb wrote:He wasn't close to Linda. If anything it's Kelly.
But Linda is just the silent person that gets BOOM HEADSHOTS.
It's just kids.
It's ironic, cuz the things he eventually do meet try, and almost succeed, to kill him.

The two kids are John and another kid from his home world. The scene is one of John's memories that he relives when he is knocked unconscious. He is talking to the girl, then looks up and sees the stars, then looks back and sees the helmet, which is what revives him and reminds him that he is back in the future scene. The helmet is also symbolic of his destiny.
Cortana says "Chief, don't leave me." and Sarge saying something along the lines of "Chief, can you hear me?" and a marine comments "I think he's gone." (or something, it's been a bit since I've seen it). Chief wakes up then, and says "Not yet." and then proceeds to kick ***.
Any comments?

Um...dude...anything is stronger than the Pistol. If you saw an AR laying on the ground infront of you when you only had a Pistol, you'd pick it up.RaVNzCRoFT wrote:Don't count on it, but maybe the fact that Chief grabs the assault rifle as he runs toward the brutes implies that the assault rifle has been made stronger?
It's been called the ultimate starting weapon. They've made it much more balanced than it's last appearance.RaVNzCRoFT wrote:Don't count on it, but maybe the fact that Chief grabs the assault rifle as he runs toward the brutes implies that the assault rifle has been made stronger?
Exactly. He is arguably the most knowledgeable (on this site) concerning the mass amount of information surrounding the Halo story.GametagAeonFlux wrote:Out of anyone on this site, I trust Veegie's word the most. Especially on this kind of thing.

Now it has a 32 shot clip, and much better accuracy far range.Tural wrote:It's been called the ultimate starting weapon.
