John Spartan vs. John the Spartan

Hey last night i just happened to catch Demolition Man on tv and DUDE, we've got some real similarities between that movie and Halo. First off, the main character's name is John Spartan. Now as we all know, Masterchief's real name is John, and of course he's a Spartan soldier. Next, it takes place in the future, not as far into the future, but the future just the same. Also, John Spartan was apparently cryogenically frozen and thawed out to do battle against his evil nemesis. And while this isn't as obvious, his guide and companion for the movie was female and had a programmed personality (like Cortana). And one of the big things that stuck out for me was the most updated gun in the movie was called the Magnetic Accelerator Gun, similar to the Magnetic Accelerator Cannons in Fall of Reach and Halo 2. So do you think this served as a major inspiration for the Halo series?

okay back on topic. lol. do you think some of Bungie's inspiration came from Demolition Man?

I seem to be getting that frequently around here.

And it's possible that they got thier inspiration from that movie somewhat, you did make a few good points there.

I do remember Bungie talking about some of the things that served as an inspiration of Halo (even Starship Troopers was in there), but there was never any mention of Demolition Man.
