I just need to know how to create a video file, preferably .avi from an animation. The animation and everything else is done.

in the render settings, the common tab check the render output and then you can set up the file type. at the top of that tab change the frames settings to how many you want rendered.

Try saving each frame in RenderOuput as .tiff or .jpeg or whatever, then use the RAM Player or videopost to combine all the frames into a video file

I doubt this is what this thread is for but I tried to download the free trial and the download time said 37 minutes then it got half way through and stopped...

Both the RAM player and videopost are part of 3ds max, they are both located under the Rendering tool bar thing (Same place where Render Scene Dialog is)

Oh, well its ok, it worked when I made it's output a .MOV file. And my school has macs so its better anyway :wink:

Draco try putting the black paint material on the MC visor with a nice hdri map for reflection and it looks really really cool.

That doesn't make sense, unless you don't want it to look anything like how it should...

The reflections are naturally bronze when reflected via his visor.

From the 2 renders I've seen from him, the 'selling point' is just that chrome material. And quite frankly, here, it doesn't look that much different.
