Something fun about the internet
This is just something cool I learned in Cisco today,
The fastest speed possible for an internet connection is an
OC-48 which sends/recieves data at UPTO 2.488320 Gig's per second.
Which is about 8 Network media levels above a T1.
So think about downloads ummmm My entire itunes collection (3.8 gigs) in about 2.5 seconds haha
Yeah this could be considered spam, but what isnt here now-a-days.
I was stunned when i heard about this amazing speed (however unless your loaded $$$ i dont think a company will run this line out to your house.

Its true. took bout 15-20 years for gig RAM to be invented.
Think about it not too long ago you were dealing with 512 MB of HDD space.

Now you use the good 500 gig drives on your Xbox

the only downside to having the OC-48 line (other than cost) is the fact that if you aren't literally connected directly to a major internet connection, like a backbone or something, you'll be limited by consumer-level stuff. like, you might have an OC-48 line connected to your CSU/DSU, but there might be a normal T1 line connecting it to your sub's router/switch.

server mb?
'net backbone routers deal with that sort of data every day. now, they just deal with only layers 1 2 and 3, but they still haul serious ass. it'll mostly come down to slowest link, then NIC, then processor/RAM.

Actually, the fastest internet connection is OC-768. I just thought I would correct you. However, I only believe two of those lines exist in the world although I could be wrong.

If there is a problem on the forums, message me through IRC, AIM, or through PM.

(if you havent seen war games with mathew broderick you suck)
edit:
after more research, you are wrong there is a faster connection OC-192 - 9.6 gigabits per second it's four OC48's that work together and run as one
if i find anymore interesting infor i'll post it.
