well even if they wouldn't get stolen i doubt most of the kids at my school are responsible enough to keep track of them. plus what do you think would happen to the screens and buttons on those things after a couple of years? they'd be in horrible condition
please dont insult my grammar,
im just too lazy to put in commas when im typing fast,
and my fingers are kinda clumsy which messes up spelling

and also obsolete. buy new ones after getting rid of the old ones.
schools and businesses already do this with computers, they lease them for a period of time, then when the lease is up, they give them back and lease a bunch of new ones.

ASPARTAME: in your diet soda and artificial sweeteners. also, it's obviously completely safe. it's not like it will cause tumors or anything. >.>

Most of our computers run 98, we're a public school, so we can't possibly be rich, and our school system overall just sucks. I want to make it good to begin with.Angry Man wrote:No offence but you make out to be a kid at a rich school who just wants more... we have math books from the 90's and computers that still run win98... stop complaining.
Our math books are so old, we get them used from other schools who returned them because they sucked so bad.

Everything you'll ever need to know about me.
Need help with Linux, C#, C, Python, Java, PHP, Javascript, CSS, or VB? I'm available from 3:00PM-8:00PM EST on weekdays.

Now your just digging yourself a holeFleetAdmiralBacon wrote:We have 60 computers, all brand new, in our library alone.
We have 6 computer labs, most with 30 brand new IBMs (these things are better than my two desktops combined).

I see a few potential problems with this..
1. Theft
2. Kids playing games on their PDAs rather than doing work.
When I was in 6th grade, all of the advanced students were given personal palm pilots to use for the year. They were supposed to help keep us organized and on top of things. Instead, they were just a tool for kids to play video games in class without getting caught.

We already have the same problem with graphing calculators, so it wouldn't be a new problem. No one has had their TI-83+ stolen, but that very well could happen.
And also, I don't give a d*** about your school, or what you think of mine. We are not a rich school, we're an average school. We are the only high school in my city, it is a public high school. Our books are so old we got them used from other schools. The only reason we have any computers is because it's part of some state regulation. We rarely use them. The school system itself sucks other than that.
I guarantee you, my school system is perfect for this and there would be no problems that don't already exist.

Sounds a lot like my school. Most of the rooms in our school have a built-in projector that can hook up to the laptops that the teachers carry around. Also, the rooms have dividers that can easily be extended to divide the classroom to make two smaller rooms.
EDIT: Yes, I know the mascot is retarded.

It's alright my school mascots are worse, yes mascots. there are 4 of em. A Black Panther (lol, gotta keep the KKK away), a Purple Dinosaur (wtf?), a white thingy (no1 knows what it is) and a gold lion. We have 4 becuause, and yes this is EXTREMLY lame, my --High School-- is divided into houses like freakin harry potter... My god i'm not 7! It's ok tho because it's only the staff that really care about the houses, the student couldn't give a

Ours Is prolly worse. Our mascot is a Jackrabbit >_>
But since our school is pretty much the Gem in the district, we're getting new stuff this year. All the mac that can be loaded with OSX are being loaded, G5's comming in daily, and the PC lab is being loaded with brand spanking new Dells running XP. All the class PCs are being fully updated now too.
