map making basics

Post by FasterBlaster »

Ok I'm gonna attempt to make my own map, but I got a few questions...

1. How do you "clear out" a level so that you basically just have a nice clear area to work with?

2. How do you go about adding walls and manipulating them to be positioned exactly where you want them?

You can't make Halo 2 Maps.

you can create new maps using machines, scenery, or bsp's from single player......just spawn everything in the sky and begin building....use entity's bsp viewer to move it all around after you've spawned it all.

Take a look at mods such as "Aireal" and "Citadel" and "Sentinel Base" and many others.

You have to null all the shader from the BSP. For making walls you can take a nice flat piece of scenery, then position it in the BSP viewer.

Wow thanks for all the quick replies guys... I really appreciate the help.

Sorry for sounding like such a noob, but how would I go about spawning things in the sky?

http://files.halomods.com/viewtopic.php ... 7be6d35e3b theres a nice tut, with scenery though you have to take a mach and change its hlmt to that of your scenery to get it to have collision, then refrence your mach to the itmc.

Thank you very much for your help guys.

Anyone know of any good flat scenery to use that could be easily be skinned to a solid color?
