some "new" components i got

Post by [cc]z@nd! »

here's some new components i got recently. ok, so they aren't "new", but they're cool.

i went to the factory this weekend at the flea market and picked up a keyboard. it's english/hebrew, but it looks cryllic. using it right now, so no compatability issues.

and here's my new monster monitor. absolutely ancient, and absolutely gigantic. i'm guessing it weighs between 40 and 50 pounds, and once i have it set up on my desk, it's not going to be moving anywhere; way too much trouble to go through. and there's a cd there for size comparison. last i remember it's 19". all i need is a db-15 cable and i can test it.

as well as my favorite part about it

I run Dual CRTs sometimes, and they get hot as hell, but CRTs provide better picture quality, which is nice, although they do put out a butt load of heat.

My friend's PC has 6 GB on the Harddrive. His iPod can hold more than it.

I have an old mac laptop, PowerBook 160... 14 years old.

68030 Processor..
25Mhz
512k vRAM
4MB RAM
320MB HD

It weighs 7lbs.

Back in 1992 it costed $2430... I bought it about 4-5 years ago as just a junke computer to fuck around on. It ran (amazingly it still runs...) text adventures pretty good.

Did I mention it has a "ball" track or whatever it's called. I can't call it a ball mouse, since there isn't a mouse, can't call it a trackpad because there isn't any pad for tracking... it's a ball where the track pad would go. You use it like you would use one of those mice where you manually turn the ball... yeah you know what I mean.

It's a pretty hot machine. Like an inch+ thick.

I got some ancient Compaq lappy for free off a guy in my dad's friend's diving supplies shop because the battery and screen were shot... it's about two inches thick, 2/3 the size of my monitor, and weighs about 5kg

All the colours are drained from the screen, but it has Windows 3.1, my first OS... and CHIP'S CHALLENGE. <3.

i'm using it right now, so it works fine as a keyboard, but none of the hebrew stuff. for it to work as a hebrew keyboard, i believe i'd probably have to have chosen hebrew as my language when i installed xp.

and what's a sudden motion sensor going to do to prevent a fall? the most i can imagine is that it'll send the read/write assembly in the HDD to the LZ as fast as it can.

lol, a laptop running 1.3. well, i guess it was superior back in the '80s.

and while we're on the subject of laptops briefly, anyone know of one + a wifi card that works well with backtrack? i'm planning on getting a job to buy a laptop, but i need one i can use for wardriving.

You really think thats good? I'm gonna build a PC that has a Pentium D 2.8 Ghz (I'll over clock it to 3.4), 2 gigs of Ram and 512 MB of video RAM, that is once I get 800 bucks.
