Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

[WIP] Hyanide (vehicle)

Post by FleetAdmiralBacon »

The Hyanide is a mix of a motorcycle, snowmobile and 4x4.
Instead of wheels, it has one single tread and turns like a motorcycle, bending the tread at the middle.
When I first saw the pictures in PopSci, I had to have one in Halo.

Here's mine:

and here's the actual thing:

I'm working on finalizing it, then I will make a simple 3d person animation and get it ingame.

Looks good... but it seems you didn't stick to the original.

Most of the modifications were made because I'm not that good at modeling so I needed something easier.

Also, I've moved the front / bottom out so that the tread has more room. I'm working on the animations right nwo.

Is that bottom one a picture or a render?

If it's a render, what the hell is your technique? Cus' it looks real.

Read the post again, it's not mine, it's the actual thing.

But actually, that is a render, they don't have a full scale one (the only existing Hyanide is 1/5th scale)

Here's an updated pic, tried to match the angle to the real one:

Pretty good. The only suggestion I can make is sharpen the tread. The texture is poor.

Well, it was just something I threw together in a few seconds, I can just use the one from the tank, but it doesn't have the same feel to it (the tank uses steel treads, but these are rubber)

Clay render please. I'm not saying anything until I've actually SEEN the details (or lack of, whichever it may be). Shiny renders might look, well, shiny... but they murder detail.

I actually used that to get my side view(s).

The models not nearly done and I plan on making it look more like the real thing, but here's the side view:

The massive poly wastage? That must be 10-20k easily. WAKE UP BACON, you don't need PERFECTLY SMOOTH SURFACES. You've made stuff for Halo before, you should KNOW BY NOW. Especially where the player won't see them. Yeesh. Halo would go spastic trying to render that, and on your antique video card? Forget it. What the HELL did you do to make the curved parts?

I'm going to step aside now and let Snaf say what else is wrong, because I'm just too dumbstruck...
