Compressing maps?
Compressing maps?
Ive been modding xbox's for a year or so now (hardware/casemods) and am a current user on the xbox scene forum. Because they dissaprove of game modifying and stuff i thought i would come here instead.
Im fairly new to the halo modding community and i would like to ask some questions before i get started. When i got my first xbox modded i used dvdtoxbox to copy halo2 onto the stock hdd to have a little try at modding before i got a bigger hdd. I took some maps off the xbox via ftp and started changing little easy things like making warthogs fly and that. I then fixed the encryption and ftp'd back, overwriting the original map (colag i belive). Supprise supprise the map failed to load and i pretty much gave up then and there.
Now a few months after that i have decided to come back to modding after seeing other mods that people have done but hopefully getting it right this time. Since the maps didnt work the last time i thought it was probably the hdd that was nearly full which was causing it so ive just got myself a small 40gb to play with.
With that in and halo on i would like to know if this method will work without failed to load:
1. FTP colag to PC
2. Open map in dothalo
3. Change warthog physics to fly ect.
4. Save changes
5. Fix encryption
6. FTP back to xbox overwriting current map
This is basicly what i did last time when i thought it was the hdd size but ive read in other topics that people compress the maps too, will i have to do this to make it work? Will it have been the problem i had before and it wasnt the HDD?
If so could someone direct me towards a tut about compressing or some programmes that do it and how to use them.
Thanks for the help,
Polat.

He did resign it.Polat wrote:5. Fix encryption
You need to disable your AU I believe. While in FTP go to E/tdata/4d530064/ and rename $u to $u1. Then your maps should load.
