damaged disc error

When i tried to play halo2 off my HDD i got an error that said this: there's a problem with the dick your using. It may be dirty or damaged. press A to continue. can someone please tell me what i may have done wrong? Also, what files can i leave out so halo2 will fit? Any help would be great.

you must have the defualt.xbe (duh) and the maps folder and every map you want in that (including mainmemu, shared and single player shared) the fonts folder and everything in it, the media folder and everything in it and the bink folder but you can delete every file in there.
