First Strike: Weekly Update #5

First Strike Weekly Update

Keeping Busy

I guess that perfectly describes our current status on this mod, Well at least as busy as we can be without getting our hands on the ellusive HEK. Even without the HEK we continue to move forward a great deal.

Concept Art
The Concept art department seems to be turning out tons of new and impressive work all the time. The last week has seen Chaos and the rest of the concept team working together with the rest of the development team to finalize the design of several different UNSC and Covenant craft. They've also been working hard on character design. You can expect the same quality from the rest of character concepts as you seen on Dr. Halsey in the update a couple of weeks ago..

Level Design
In my opinion one of First Strike's shining points is definitely going to be level design. Mike MC and Crispy have both been working on a few different levels in the last week. The level design in Halo was great, and our level designers are working hard on giving you lots of fresh new places to kick some covy ass.

2D Art
We're putting quite a bit of work in at the 2D art dept. We've got to wait for the models to be complete before we can really get our hands dirty, but in the mean time we've been doing some research. Studying the styles of the Covenant and UNSC structures and characters helps us to make sure our content will both look and feel like Halo.

3D Art
I wish I could tell you half of the cool stuff we've got going on behind the scenes, I can't but trust me when I say its worth the wait! Farsight has once again delivered some incredible models. One of which we are going to wait and show you a little later on, but I assure you its big and mean and worth the wait!! The rest of the modelers are also hard at work. Wraith is putting his skills to good use bringing the Gettysburg to life, and is waiting for the go ahead to start work on the Seraph Fighter. Kooky is finishing up a few smaller projects and then plans to start on the Polaski model. We are all really excited about the modeling thats going on right now. The mixture of amazing concept artists and talented 3D modelers is sure to yield some fantastic work.

Sound
This seems to be where a lot is happening as of late. Jatin has been keeping very busy with the SMG and Battle Rifle sounds. Along with that he's also been knocking out some of the ambient sounds that will really bring the game to life (birds chirping, wind and water....). On top of all that, the sound guys are also in the process of reviewing the voice auditions we've received. We've got a TON of dialog to record for all the characters, so if you'd like to lend your voice to First Strike the please check out this forum.

Ok I know what you're thinking.....NO Pictures? Crispy (the guy who usually does the update) is out of town for a day or so, so I'm filling in for him as best I can on short notice (go easy on me), but to make up for no pictures this week we've got a big surprise for you next week! Only one way to find out what it is......Stay Tuned!

EVEN with modding they have news.
Maybe not the first to get the news, but still, they have the news, like SE 3.02.
