True.
Having the Assault Rifle as its own weapon and the default starting weapon could bring some real balance to Halo 2. Nice ROF, and improve the accuracy and power from the first game thanks to the new barrel, and I'll just assume the non slanted barrel guard means it's using a higher caliber round (although the original was a 7.62 NATO, so we'd have to use .38cal/9.652mm rounds).
Be sure to give it it's own HUD, make a nice logo for it in the top right of the screen (not hard, just take a side view of the model and resize and make it white), and it's own crosshair. And to make sure that it has its own pickup text, swap the string_id out for the fuel rod gun's text. Then edit them all to either AssualtRifle or MA5C or something. That's what I did to give the second shotgun its own name in Biohazard v3.

You dont need to make the image the same format. If you do what shalted found out with the reticles, you can do that with any part of the HUD, but you wont have to reference everything. Aha, yeah I jsut got a good read of that.
