Your thoughts about "Click", SPOILER WARNING!!

What do you think of the movie "Click"? I thought it was pretty funny at first but...Then there was a huge drama part that basicly said "Enjoy things while you can!".

I give "Click" a 3 out of 5.

EDIT: If I was Adam Sandler I would keep the remote, I can do more than just control time....and the pause function is useful...

Movies with Adam Sandler tend to make my head hurt. Except for Punch Drunk Love, that movie was great.

The ending is obvious. He decides that he likes life the best it was and gets rid of the remote.

And I haven't even seen the movie.

No, I don't like Adam Sandler Movies. And, you thought this movie would be better than expected? How can you expect to exceed your own expectations? That is by definition impossible.

The subject of this movie thought of before the producers got together and made the movie. So that's why you found out the ending...

Wrong. If I knew that I would have said that in my original post.

The only thing I knew about the movie was that Adam gets a remote that makes him so he can control time, which was given to him by Christopher Walken.

Movie plots tend to be quite predictable these days as movie producers seem to have forgotten the definition of the word 'originality.'

THats like say...

"Hmmm this hamburger is gonna rock... actually this hamburger is as good as i thought it would be."

How can you expect something to be better than your expectations? That's like saying, I expect this to be bad, but I think it will be good. By saying you think something contrary to your expectations, you are by definition changing your expectations. Anyway, this isn't an argument about semantics.

Better or worse is arbitrary, the fact is you are saying he can expect something to be different than what he expects, which is not possible. That is like saying something is not equal to itself, if you expect it to be different than you expect, your expectations have changed, and you no longer hold your previous expectation. But seriously, back on topic, this is not about language.

No, Armed, you obviously didn't see the post before Warbandit edited it. I saw it and it said something like, "I expected this movie to be.....better than I expected." But then he edited it. :(

I thought = past tense, before he saw this movie he thought 'blank'
I expected = past tense, before he saw this movie he thought 'blank' about this movie.
You apparently don't have a thesaurus in your house, or you might realize they mean the same thing in this context.

So saying that he thought, before the movie, that this movie would exceed the expectations he had formed prior to seeing this movie. He was saying that he thought, that this movie would be better than he thought it would be. Saying such is a logical fallacy, it is impossible. Basically what he is saying is that what he expected is not what he expected. This is really common-sense. Here, I can quote you saying this:
Armed Civilian wrote:He expected it to be better that his predictons but it ended up being worse that his prodictions.
Here is the thesaurus' definition of 'expectation' (Source):
Thesaurus.reference.com wrote:Main Entry: Expectation
Part of Speech: noun
Definition: anticipation
Synonyms: apprehension, assumption, assurance, belief, calculation, chance, confidence, conjecture, design, expectancy, fear, forecast, hope, intention, likelihood, looking forward, motive, notion, outlook, possibility, prediction, presumption, probability, promise, prospect, reliance, supposition, surmise, suspense, trust, view
As you can see, the words 'expectation' and 'prediction' are synonyms, as such I can substitute them. So he was, at least according to the laws of the English language, saying that he expected something different than he expected (predicted if you like). Since the words mean the same thing, it is transitive.

I can't believe we're arguing about language, this is stupid, I'm done.

He could merely think that his expectations were reasonably low enough that the movie would exceed them, or that he had hoped that the movie would exceed the expectations he had set before he watched the movie.

You're all over thinking this. It's obvious what he intended to say.

As for the movie, I have no plans on seeing it. I haven't enjoyed a single Adam Sandler movie yet.

I was nitpicking his English, and we apparently couldn't let it go. I get what he meant to say, and I will do us all a favor and shut the hell up about it.
