Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

[WIP] Draco 2.0

Post by FleetAdmiralBacon »

Well, I'm finally gonna make those improvements to the Draco that Separated lacked.
As of now, I've made brand new displays for the 3 monitors in the bridge.
The new ones are a lot more like the other displays. Each one is different now, also.
Another new addition is working skid and door displays. The displays are simple planes with different bitmaps on them placed over a blank monitor. They animate with the open/close animations
Also, the skid now moves. For testing purposes, its movement is attached to the open/close animations. I also made some improvements to the skid itself. It now is held in place by 3 pistons.
I'll get pics in a few minutes, just need to tweek my animation tag so that the doors work..

Well, had some problems, but I think I fixed them. I've removed all the degenerate triangles from the Draco, so it should be fine.

Finally! For some reason everything with the second texture was screwed up, so I found the second object (alphabetically) in the model (well, actually, it was the third, the second had the first texture) and changed it to a completely clear texture, so that the screwed up triangles didn't appear.
It worked perfectly, so now the ship looks right. I'll get some pictures of the new stuff. btw, the second object was the things that hold up the 3 main displays, so yeah, I might need to add something in with my decrappify material (the clear one) in order to get those back.

I'll edit in some pictures in a minute. Just have to get some

Ok, first off, we have the new monitor textures:

They fit better with the rest of the ship's monitors. (Please don't ask about the darkness of the plates, they're the same as they were in the original Draco, it just has to do with the the way I made the shaders and the fact that my card sucks)
Next, here's the skid when not extended:

I'll get one of it extended, but I'm going to have to restart Halo..

EDIT:
It has been suggested many times that I change the front end. I have absolutely no idea what people want me to do with it, so here is the first option for the front end:

EDIT: Here's the original

Due to some huge problems, I've decided to remodel the Draco from scratch. So far I have the basic shape of the ship done, including hallways and rooms. Now I just need to fill them. The new model is completely sealed, excluding the engines. The new ship will be a completely different ship. It's a newer model year in a way. Pics in a minute

Ok, here's the new one:

Ack... skin... wtf...

Maybe add a few more details to the outside of this one and make it a bit less cramped inside.

Old one ended up looking pretty cool skinned, should be interesting to see this one in action.
