patched a map but is still won't won't work!!!

Post by wargod »

I'm new to this but I have read the tutorials and this is what i did.

This pertains to the xbox version of halo 1.
I got ahold of a map called bloodgultchhogs.ppf which supposidly had modified warhogs in the map of bloodgulch. I transfered the file bloodgulch map (called beavercreek.map) from my xbox to my computer using the FTP software. I then used ppf-o-matic to patch the map file with the bloodgultchhogs.ppf file that I downloaded. The beavercreek.map file grew in size from its original 21.0 MB to 34.7 MB. I deleted the original beavercreek.map 21 MB file from my xbox, and FTP'd over this new 34.7 MB patched file in its place. I cleared the catch files out of the X, Y, and Z drives. Fired up my xbox and the map loads, but the hogs are not modded in any way.

What did I do wrong? Do I have to use that encryptomatic_signature program on it? Was I supposed to patch a map in the catch like the cache003.map file instead?

Also, once you mod a map can you permanently save it over the orginal map so that everytime it loads even if you clear the catch, it will always be modded?

Thanks

Yes, you have to use the Encryptomatic Signature to Resign the Map. After you have done that, then try it out.

Damn, I thought that it only had to be used on halo 2 maps.

Naw, you have to do it on Halo 1 also. Did it work?

Do you only have to resign maps when you apply a .ppf patch or must you resign them after you rebuild and recompress them?

No it hasn't worked yet. Do I need to use dothalo to compress it back to its original map size?

Figured it out.

Decompress original map.
Patch it with the ppf file.
Compress map.
Resign map.

Can you please stop with all the double posting you do? I have seen you do it like 5 times already.

Glad you got it working though.

You don't have to resign Halo 1 maps, do you?

I never do and everything works fine for me....

Halo 1.

Decompress
Mod/ppf apply
Compress

FTP

No Resigning needed. Whenever I apply PPF's, it works without resigning.
