modders assemble!!!

Post by Krr Splat »

ok i know this is going to sound crazy and i might sound like a noob but i think that we should fingure out how to port halo maps to halo 2. i dont care how it is done or what it takes, it has been way to long for this not to go undone. if the people at bungie can do than there is no boubt in my mind that the l337 modderz here can do the same. i also realize that this will not happen over night and may very well take months but if we put our collective brain power together it will happen and the halo community will rejoice.

he wants to port the halo 1 maps to halo 2. Like wizard-->warlock or sidewinder-->containment, or bloodgultch-->coagulation

I think sidewinder would be an awesome h2 map.

I wonder how similar the structures of maps (sbsp) are in halo and halo2.

side winder is in halo 2. It was converted by bungie. It is now called containment.
I vote for chill out, prisoner, and hang em high

i auctually think that converting halo 1 maps into halo 2 wouldent be too hard, it would just be a matter of fixing the differences in the maps, putting the new vehicles in etc,

like it will be different but i dont think it would take mych for some smart person to convert it then fix it up to work with halo 2.

oh and BTW, the old sidewinder is heaps better than the sad excuse for sidewinder called "Contaiment"

Um... containment has snow and sidewinder has snow. The similarities stop there. Sidewinder was MUCH better.

Back on topic, I would LOVE to see a bsp conversion of Sidewinder to Halo 2. There's a few others I'd like to see as well, but Sidewinder is still my favorite Halo map ever.
I looked into it a bit before the Entity days when bsp conversions were still being done the hard way. I even got as far as extracting Sidewinder's bsp, but it wasn't compatible with any known methods of bsp injection. I asked around a bit and it was concluded that the formats were too different to do a straight conversion through any means available to us currently.
Hopefully, we'll be able to create completely new bsp's in the future and then we'll be able to build our own Sidewinder clone.

Is the bsp in halo 1 still a wavefront .obj?

Um... the bsp's in H2 aren't wavefronts. When you extract them they get converted to wavefront. If we could properly inject a wavefront .obj then we'd have something.
