Remember that awesome looking Halo 2 trailer? The first one. I got it on one of the OXM discs and it proudly boasted about how the entire thing was rendered in realtime on an actual xbox. It even specifically boasted about the "light blooming" effect when mc was falling toward the capital ship, and I'm pretty sure it boasted about the real time reflections on his visor (those were pretty sweet looking). I'm not saying it's gonna' suck or anything; quite the opposite. I'm just not prepared to get TOO excited about what the graphics look like a year before it comes out.
And for the speculations on the plot: it's a forerunner installation. The humans are the reclaimers (whatever that means), not the forerunners. It is still the covenant that the humans are fighting (if I understand correctly, the forerunners got wiped out). Not all of the elites or even the majority of them are necesarilly teamed up with Johnson and Miranda (though it is possible-they did seem somewhat estranged from the Covenant after the whole brute take-over thing). Of course that's the Mombassa bridge; the covenant came to earth and specifically to Mombassa specifically looking for that structure, not knowing the humans would even be there.

Heh. Guess I worded that wrong. But given all the attention it got after bsp conversion was made possible, they SHOULD have come looking for it

I meant they came to Mombassa 'cuz that's where the thing in the trailer was. It would seem that in Halo 3 they are coming with a much larger force, but to the same spot--their original goal. I didn't mean to imply it wasn't kudos-worthy that you noticed the bridge (I actually didn't realize what it was 'til like the third time I watched it). Hope it didn't come across that way.
....heh, the covenant came to earth to find the new mombassa bridge. Just 'cuz they new how awesome it'd be for multi-player.

Located on Earth (though it was once theorized to be on the moon; both the possible "2001" homage and talk of a moon-based, low-gravity level contributed to this), the Ark is a primary center from which the entire Halo network may be remotely activated. It is not known whether the Ark will preserve the lives of those who set it off (unlike the Halos which destroy even the life upon their surfaces), but because the name itself is an allusion to a biblical sanctuary during a storm, it is implied that it will.

If you want to enforce the rules, do it unbiased. I expect all the pictures on the 1st page over 800x600 to be deleted with the uppermost punctuality.

Last time I checked, you were not the boss of anyone besides yourself. The moderating staff will govern how they see fit; stop thinking everyone is out to get you. Also, it's utmost, not uppermost.

Well the gravemind ended up with Cortana in the end of Halo 2 so that's my first impression.

heres my theorys.
this is my theorys on the forerunners and the ark:

the 7 rings can wipe all sentient beings from existance in the universe so how would the ark help save the the forerunners well there is one thing the halos cannot penetraite time.
that tempest in the trailer looks like it was to do with time or the time vortex it could be that the forerunners nearly cracked the skasis paradym and learned a bit of time.[refer to the book of the first strike]
the crstal on the third book changed time as well as space did it not?
now for the structures that raised up from the arc possible the arc protects the forerunners through time tech making a paradox bubble sorta thing sheilding the forerunners from the radiation from the halos firing.
that way the damage will be prevented and the caretakers safe from harms way.
that tempest and lightning definitly looked somthing to do with the time vortex.
and yes i made numerous spelling mistakes its like 1 am here so im not going to go through and re do it.

That may be true but then again why would the gravemind want to become friends with it's food?
