The actual meaning of the song is the subject of debate but the generally accepted version is that by 'Du Hast' he is saying 'You Have.' (The words for 'Have' and 'Hate' are both similar to 'Hast' apparently)
He is saying 'You Have' because the entire song is a play on wedding vows. It goes: 'You, You have, You have asked me, You have asked me and I said nothing.' As in at a wedding, you are asked 'Do you take this person as your wife?' and he did not respond. The refrain is the German equivelant of 'Until death do us part' to which the singer passionately responds 'No!'
True dat, I took german for 3 years, now i have to learn spanish  But "hast" is have.

I can guarantee that is what they mean. The English version is different, because you cannot translate lyrics and make them still rhyme. Ask anyone who speaks German and they will tell you that is what the song means.

Thats like saying punk died when the lead singer of the Sex Pistols died, i think his name was like johnny savage or something.

I for one, like rammstien, i havent listened to them in about a year but i like them, i own all thier albums.
Please look up Falco.
Seriously. You'll get my intent with that statement.

Well, Falco was from Austria, not Germany. So in a way, your comment did not apply to German Music.

Im such a smart ass arent I? :P

Kinda not really. My german teacher was from germany and he said that Germany and Austria are different believe it or not ladies and gentlemen. The diolect is different in some ways, like words, and culture is different too.

yeah, but same concept. there is a dialect/culture/(in some cases)language difference between Us and Canada, but the two are still very close-knit countries.

many Austrians on the German border consider themselves as Germans, so I'd see the connection between Falco and Germany.
