Why do you oppose/support the Iraq war?
I support it for a main reason, i think the people in iraq, the civillians that arent religiously insane that think bombing is ok, i think they deserve the life we have. They shouldnt have to fear thier government as much as they do, they should have rights to certain things. Above all, we need to teach them how to fight when things go bad, such as a corrupt governement taking your country over.

Bush is taking this the wrong way. A democracy will NEVER work in a country like Iraq. They have lived under a dictatorship for too long, and throughout history, always had one VERY powerful leader. Once the U.S. is done restoring power, in the next non-US endorsed election, theres gonna be some major corruption, political assasinations, all trying to clear out competition. that is how it worked for centuries. The hate of the Western culture, that has been fueled by all of this is going to worsen the situation.
But on the contrary, The Media has blown the war out of proportion. Theres more people killed in Homicides in California than soldiers in Iraq. Even the Daily soldier death count can be matched and overtaken by the daily gun related murders in Compton and South Central. But the thing is, Iraq is a war ground. I'm all for the war, but we're fighting for the wrong cause. We need to drop the whole, "Policing" mentality, and root out the problem and eliminate it.

Not true, it is you who is blowing this out of proportion. If there were more deaths in California than people dying in iraq every day then there probably wouldnt be a population to California in the next year or so. They make it sound like the war isnt that bad on the news, but the marines ive talked to, say otherwise.Cuda wrote:Bush is taking this the wrong way. That was over 4-5 years, though, and with massive numbers of Germans and Russians fighting. Not to mention the Russians tended to just charge in shooting, which cost them a lot of men.imgettionowned wrote:Actually Multi Genre that's a true fact.
We've had about 2300 deaths over 3 years, that's roughly 2 deaths per day.
Which is a lot, but by war standards that's nothing. 1 Million russians died in WW2.

I'm against the war, because Bush started it for false reasons (WMD). Iraq had a stable government and the people liked the protection from attack that it offered. That's the psychology behind authoritarian dictatorships. but I don't think we should leave just yet. Bush needs to clean up the smelly mess he made.
